Cannot take the high heat straight out of a compressor/air pump on hot days.
This is my second coil of this Self-Sinking Aeration Hose. While this was a Vine sample, I have purchased this product in the past. It works exactly as you would want. The hose sinks right to the bottom of the pond, and is super flexible. The 3/8 tubing diameter can carry plenty of air.I have had a problem with bursting the tube right at the output of the compressor/air pump. The pump puts out hot air (like any compressor does). The hot air softens the tubing and it fails within 2 inches of the compressor. I solved it by adding 5 feet of copper flex tubing right out of the compressor to cool the air. The problem disappeared.I’m adding another bubbler to the pond. This tubing is exactly what I need.

Sinks as it should
Could not connect directly to pump as pump heat melted hose till we placed a copper tube on pump to keep hose a short distance off. 18 inches or so.

Hose burst
The media could not be loaded. Bought this hose to extend an existing pond aeration system. All compressors create hot air. Hose heats up, expands, then bursts after 2 minutes. Original hose is much higher quality. Going to buy a heavy duty compressor hose.

Meets my needs
I have a small bubbler for my small pond. I was tired of weighting the hose with rocks, so this is exactly what I needed! It's quite a bit larger than the hose I had, so rather than use a bunch of adapters to make it work with my bubbler, I opted to use this as "conduit" for my existing hose. I cut it to length and slid the existing tubing inside of it. It worked perfectly for my use - the hose now lays flat in the bottom of the pond!

Doesnt sink
The hose works fine, the hardware to connect the hose works fine, but the hose has been floating for a week, doesn't sink.

Works Well

I was apprehensive at first...
I was a bit skeptical when I first felt the hose. When coiled, the hose is weighty. However, when uncoiling the hose, it felt very light for a "weighted" hose. This is a concern because I do not want the hose floating and impeding the wildlife. I did a quick test by capping the hose in a loop and tossing it in a bucket - it sank quickly, but I thought that might be because of the weight of the clamps and fitting.Wanting to make sure the hose had enough inherent weight, I hiked out to the pond and threw a loop of hose into the water. It sank without issue. It did fail to take out it's own twist, however, meaning it was not laying completely flat on the bottom of the pond. Parts of the twist were suspended in the water above the pond floor. That is not too much of a concern, as I suspect that would eventually work itself out. I did also notice the hose has somewhat of a thin wall, which likely contributes to the lack of weight. I did see in another review that the hose burst during use, which may be from the thin wall of the hose. The hose does come with anough fittings and clamps to make four connections. The hose inside diameter is accurate at 3/8", as it works with my other aerator hose fittings.I am okay with recommending this hose, and thank you for reading my review.
