Sun and Shade Grass Seed Mix 5 lb

Bought a 5 lb. bag to seed the area at the edges of a repaired driveway. It germinated well and looks like strong grass is coming in. Just bought another bag.A positive about this seed is that it is about 99% seed (most of the rest being inert matter which is probably dust). If you check the label (perhaps at a store because many labels posted on Amazon are incomplete) you may find that most brands of grass seed for sale are only about 50% seed, the rest being something green that is said to hold moisture and maybe provide nutrients. In my experience one is better off using plain grass seed and adding nutrients and water as needed.

The germination rate on this bag was good. After nearly 2 weeks of consistent moisture, either daily rain or watering multiple times a day, an 8 by 8 patch has gone from bare to filled with uniform growth. I raked the top soil loose, raked a layer of seed in, then topped with weed free straw before applying continual water for about 2 weeks. Even with the birds doing their best to thwart my plans of lush green coverage, the germination rate was so high it looks thick already. Growth is uniform and matches existing grass, so I have confidence that this is likely the grass species claimed on the bag and am excited to see it continue to grow.

Got this to overseed a stubborn shaded area of my yard. I followed the instructions and watered daily. This stuff sprouted as expected and seems to be doing well. Still having to water it, but looking forward to seeing how it does over the winter and into next spring.

Used this to fill patchy areas all over the backyard, some in full sun, some in shade, and it has taken in all the areas. Germinated quickly and didn't require overly attentive watering. Soil is southern clay, just scored the dirt with a steel rake before tossing seed down.
