Perfect for my feet...
I read all the reviews about these shoes before ordering so I was prepared for the toe to be fairly roomy. The other reviews weren't wrong; this shoe is for people with wider feet who don't want their toes cramped. I usually order a 9.5 in hiking shoes/boots so I have room for thick socks but I went with my hunch and ordered a 9 and they are perfect. I love the little bit of extra room as it allows air to circulate and my feet get so hot during summer hikes. They were comfortable right out of the box and are nice and grippy on dry Colorado trails. I bought these for a trip to Moab in May but I can see them being my go-to shoes for hiking in everything but rain and mud. I'll save my boots for days like that. I highly recommend these shoes if you have wider feet or need a roomy toe. Already planning to buy another pair of these for when my first ones wear out.

warmer than expected
I usually wear a 9 in hiking or running shoes and I have a 9 for these shoes and they fit great.I use them for daily wear and light trail hikes. The material is warmer than I expected and more fuzzy. This shoe has met my expectations.I bought the shoe to replace my j-41 Tahoe shoes which I liked very much. These shoes are warmer than the Tahoe shoes but that suits my purposes better since I live in cold weather climates most of the year. The shoes made my feet look really big because of the extra room for your toes so if that is a concern I would not recommend them. These are more sturdy than the Tahoe as well. Overall good shoe I am happy with.

I HATE tennis shoes-love these!
I'm normally a Dansko / Naot kind of person. I can branch out to a Teva mush flip-flop for cheap shoes. I'm an art teacher and I work on a concrete floor, so shoes are VERY important to me. I've always had back issues and they stopped when I started wearing really good shoes. I hate tennis shoes--the feel confining and do not have any support. That being said, I LOVE THESE SHOES!!! I had to buy a hiking shoe for my upcoming trip to Costa Rica, and I'm so glad I found these. I ordered my size and they fit perfectly. They breathe without feeling too full of holes. I've just worn them for the regular breaking in period (which is was really not necessary with these because they felt great right out of the box!) and I'm super-happy so far.I will update after my trip with how they perform during my hiking experience.

Cute as heck
I just got a pair of these -- the black, with orange trim. The pair I got is true-to-size -- 6.5M women's -- the fit is truly perfect. I use socks with very light cushion. I've seen a few reviews saying that they needed to go down a half-size to get their fit. The pair I bought, though, were true to size. For looks, I rate it 6 stars because they are just really cute in a rather minimalist way. The squarish toe is sort of loafer-style, and inside, one's toes have some nice room to wiggle or even spread apart a bit (should you feel the need to do so). Toes are not "squished" tight like they'd get from the more "pointy-toe" styles. And yet the entire foot stays pretty much stably wedded to the shoe because the "mouth" is goodly tight without cutting off circulation. As for comfort -- these don't have much cushioning. I used them to walk an asphalt-paved trail (just over a mile) and although I did not experience discomfort from "pounding the pavement" I'd say that compared to my old Ecco trail-running shoes I definitely didn't feel like I was walking on pillow-like softness (which the Ecco provided, "pointy" style though they were.) I felt the need to put in a pair of insoles (inexpensive Dr. Scholl's "double-air pillo"). Doing so now made the Merrells feel a wee bit tighter because of the added inside height due to the new insoles, but still not uncomfortable. I think that once those insoles get flattened down the shoes will be perfectly comfortable.I'm not sure if these are waterproof. They're certainly not made with Gore-tex.All in all, these are a keeper. I do like them a lot, despite the need for the added insoles. I definitely will be using/abusing these shoes all spring/summer/fall long. How much they'll stand up to so much hard use only time will tell. I hope Merrell's have the same durability as Lowa's. ( A pair of trail-running shoes and a pair of Renegade hikers that I got from Lowa, from NINE YEARS AGO, are still strong and whole, though obviously well-worn and, uh, no longer pretty.)Overall rating I'd give: 4 stars

PERFECT!
I like Merrell shoes in general but there seems to be quite a variation from model to model in terms of sizing so I'm never exactly sure what to expect when I order online. I needed a decent trail shoe that was lightweight. I'm not doing any running but probably some pretty brisk walking/trail hiking. What I love about these, that others may not, is that the toe box is a little bigger than a normal shoe or sneaker. This is why these are so perfect - because my feet and especially the toe area does swell when I do any serious walking or hiking; so what happens is that a shoe that fits perfect out of the box is generally cramming my little tootsies by the end of a 2 hour walk. Not these! They're comfy right out of the box and after a walk. Oh and the color is really cute. I'm thinking I'll be wearing these for more than sports.

happy walking feet!
I must admit, my eyes bought the shoes. Merrell's reputation for quality cinched the deal. They are perfect for me! I wear them for walking my dog. The pink is beautiful, really cute. They offer very good arch support for my high arch and high instep. The toe box is generous and sizing runs true. I choked a little at the price. I dont usually spend this kind of money on 'tennis shoes'. I think they were worth the money so far. They are very supportive and look great. Thumbs up! Im considering another color.

Comfy, light, fit well
They're everything I thought they would be. They feel like you're not wearing anything at all. I have very high arches and the arch support is phenomenal. The sole flexes with ease but provides good traction. I've stepped in deep puddles but they seem to wick away most of the moisture and my feet haven't gotten wet yet. Overall, they're comfortable, they breath well, and they fit true to size on my size 9 feet.

toller Schuh
