SmartwoolBoiled Wool Beanie Deep Navy

The hat is very soft and warm. It definitely felt a bit tight when I first put it on. I normally wear a 7 1/4” fitted hat for sizing. With some use the hat will loosen up to a nice comfortable snug fit. The hat kept my head at a comfortable temperature throughout all my winter activities in New England. I highly recommend the Smartwool boiled wool beanie.

This is a very well made cap consisting of heavy wool.... But.... Its too darn tight! Its too small. It feels fine for the first 10 minutes and then my ears start hurting.

I ordered this hat specifically because it was advertised as made in the USA. I understand that the wool itself might not come from the USA, however the hat is made in Indonesia. Pretty far from America. So my question is, what exactly on this hat is made in the USA, was it designed in the USA? Well that’s not the meaning of “Country of Origin”, it would be “Country of Design”.The hat itself is pretty nice, but a nice hat is half the reason I bought it, the other half was the written statement of being made in America. For that reason I’d give it a 2.5, but Amazon only allows whole numbers. I’ll probably come back to this review after wearing it for a few days and leave feedback, change the rating too if necessary.If you’re looking for a nice hat, it fills the purpose, but if you’re looking for a hat made in America, look elsewhere.

This thick merino wool beanie kept my head warm in 0°F (-17°C) weather. Looking forward to using it in even colder conditions.

Very soft and warm, too tight for my husband's head and gives him a headache and after only 10 minutes of wear. He is average and only 5'6 so he is not a huge person, nor is his head large. My 11 year old son also found it to be tight and he is an average size for his age. This is pretty disappointing for an expensive quality item. I generally love Smartwool and own many items I love. However, both of the wool hats (one boiled and the other Merino) I purchased for his birthday and then Christmas are too tight for him to wear and so he is using his polyester ones. I was trying to get us to natural fibers, Super bummed.

This product is definitely worth the money. I initially bought the thermal reversible beanie from Smartwool but it wasn’t warm enough when temperature got frigid ( less than 25 degrees). The boiled wool beanie is there warmest version they have. When I went out in the frigid temperature I didn’t feel a thing. I’m actually going to purchase another one.
