CasablancaCaneel Bay Indoor / Outdoor Ceiling Fan with LED Light and Wall Control

I LOVE this fan. It is expensive, but not only are you getting a fan but it also adds room decor. It completely changed the look of my family room. It’s great quality and produces a large amount of air flow. The dimmer on the light also gives many options.***The downfall is the sound the light switch makes when you use it. It’s a beeping noise that only lasts 2 seconds.***Overall I would definitely buy again!

Extremely finicky on whether it wants to work. If you’re going to charge this much for a fan it should have absolutely 0 problems, and we’ve had a lot of problems.I’ll start by saying the fan is beautiful, and more heavy duty then any other fan I’ve ever installed (we do a lot of them). The motor and blades are super heavy and you can tell they are high quality. The issue comes in with the remote and the actual operation of the fan.Pros:The fan is really good looking and heavy duty. When it works it moves a lot of air.Cons:It hardly ever works.1. First off I think it’s a flaw to make the fan unable to operate without the remote. It’s just one more thing that could break and leave your fan worthless, and that’s what we’re experiencing. The remote must be paired for the fan or lights to work, and it keeps getting unpaired somehow. The first couple of times I was able to reset it by turning the breaker off for a few minutes, then re-pairing the remote to the fan. However, the fan and the lights will not work anymore. This is true whether the remote is wired in or operating on its batteries alone.2. It makes A LOT of humming noise. I know it’s not my electrical because I’ve had it checked. Also, the Hunter fan that was installed before it didn’t make any noise at all.3. The lights aren’t bright enough once you put the cover on. The lights seem plenty bright when you first screw them in and turn them on, but once you place the cover on them it doesn’t put off much light. The cover kills most of the lumens. I know a lot of folks use this fan outside, but we were hoping to use it in a bedroom. This definitely shouldn’t be used in rooms where it will be the only light source. The specifications are deceptive because they claim that the fan puts out a lot of lumens, but they don’t mention that the cover kills probably 50-60% of the brightness.I think the fan itself would last a long time, but they have a lot of problems to resolve with the remote programming, and they really should give you the option to hard wire in with a switch as a backup to needing the remote.I am not a jerk, but I get really frustrated when you buy an expensive product and spend a lot of time that you don’t have to spare trying to make it work. I’m sure they will refund us, but they can’t refund the hours of work we put in trying to make it work. Not to mention how long it takes to take one of these back down and pack it back up correctly for shipment.

Very tough to install this fan but it was the only one with the "look" we were wanting for our living room. The switch didn't work with our current wiring set up so we use it as a remote and the fan power will turn on with the current 3 station switch on our wall. We are then able to make adjustments with the remote. I will say the "remote" is actually the intended switch you are supposed to install in the wall. Luckily it had a battery power slot on the back or else we couldn't have used the fan at all. The "remote" has wires coming out of it as consequence. I do wish the manufacturers would have included an actual remote or a cover so it doesn't look so janky.

Looks great and functions well. Solid.24 in down rod not available with this unit and had to buy elsewhere

As others have stated, this is a great looking fan BUT FOR THE MONEY IT IS NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. First, as others have noted, the fan is quite loud at high speed (makes a loud humming sound like an airplane taking off). Given the aesthetic appeal, I would be willing to live with the noise. However, the thing that really gets me is that the fan did not come with a remote (at least the version we got) -- for a fan that retails for more than $500! It has a wall-mounted control and, although hardwired, it will only operate the variable speed controls or light with live batteries in the unit. WHEN THE BATTERIES DIE, YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE COVER PLATE AND WALL CONTROLLER TO CHANGE THEM OR THE FAN WILL NOT OPERATE! Really annoying. Either a design flaw or intentional play by Hunter (which now owns Casablanca) to force the consumer to pay another $60 for a remote. Again, on a fan that sells for more than $500!!! I spoke with Hunter Customer Service about this and they were useless. Put on hold forever just to hear their CSRs just regurgitate that they only can replace parts under warranty along with some nonsense that customers don't mind removing the wall control to replace batteries. By way of comparison, I purchased a second fan from Restoration Hardware for a different room that is part of our addition and it looks and works great, comes with both a wall controller and remote and is half the price. In my experience, RH customer service is second to none. While I have purchased both Casablanca and Hunter in the past, I'm avoiding anything Hunter from now on.

This fan is gorgeous! Looks really nice in our screen room. It did take a while to hang up but instructions for mounting were clear. It is quiet for most controls but does have a loud humming noise when the fan is on the highest level which is a huge disappointment since we need it on high for outside. It also doesn't produce as much air as we had hoped. Only if you are directly underneath the fan, can you feel the breeze. The wall controller seems pretty cheap too with its push buttons. Looks like it will be easy to break especially with a kid pushing the buttons. To sum up, beautiful fan but just not as function and efficient as we expected for this price tag.
