I purchase from Amazon frequently but only write reviews for stellar products. My daughter is playing college volleyball and I purchased for her to use. I decided to buy (even though it was only $20) because I could get enough views of product to think it would work. When I received it I was REALLY struck by the quality of construction. I would not have expected near the quality for $20, would have expected to pay way more. Being a runner for over 30 years and still going, I do ice often, especially after long runs. However I don't mess with wrapping an ace bandage around ice pack as much as I should, hence loosing the benefits of compression. This brace with compression is soooo nice. It's a one minute deal to take pack out of fridge, wrap, pump up bladder for compression and you're done. I am icing after almost every run because although I may have only 15 or 20 minutes to sit around, this knee brace makes it quick enough to do so. Have had no problems with inflating or deflating bladder or any other quality issues, have had for about 6 plus months, use 3-4 times per week. I have used on other areas of body such as ankle and elbow works great. Like anything treat it with with respect, don't let your dog play with it, and I think this brace will last for years.As far as how it works as a hot compress I don't know. When I need that I sit in my hot tub. :)

Excellent item for your knee injury....clear and concise directions. I have a twist injury and need to ice regularly so this has been a great item for that. The one thing I would recommend if you are using the alternate heat/cold therapy is getting another insert. Once you freeze the insert you must let it get to room temperature before using it for heat. That is not going to work if you don't have all day to wait. Just a heads up. QUALITY construction...easy directions...will last a long time if you take care of it....the extensions that came with it are awesome.
