might be the only book on magick you'll ever need
I was thoroughly impressed with this book. It's not really a book, it's an epic, a great work. It is long and really involved, and if you are not a serious occultist magician, then you will lose patience with it, cause it's almost 400 pages. If you want to get good at pretty much everything, like energy work/manipulation, healing, hexing, in/evocation, servitor creation, etc, this is the book for you. The author pretty much points you in the right direction to get as powerful as you want in any type of magickal skill. If you are looking for fluffy bunny light reading, this is not for you. If you want a serious introduction that leads to much more advanced work in nearly any magickal skill, this is the book you should get before all others. It's my opinion that it was probably intended to be the only book that the author wanted to write about learning magick. He does not mention any other books he may have written to try to tempt you to buy them, but he does frequently mention books by Phil Hine, Peter Carrol, and the NLP guys that he has learned a great deal from, the knowledge that he passes onto you. There is no dogma attached to this book, aside from the suggestion that you should work with or worship any spirits that you deem appropriate to help you achieve your goals. There is no harsh tone or one way to do things mindset either. It's very open to allow you to experiment and find what works the best for you. It's not freaky and gothic like Konstantinos or Raven Digitalis, but it does have some rock solid material that could hurt you if you are not careful with it. Warnings are provided. Some possible short comings of this book would includea LOT of energy, invocation, evocation, and entity creation exercises that are best done with a partner. If you have a few friends that are into magick and practice together, this would instead be a very GOOD thing, but if you are a solitary practitioner, this is somewhat limiting. The chapters on astral projection mainly detail building the astral temple, and some basic astral work, that involves expanding previous exercises in the book, such as ways to combine AP with invocation and evocation. The actual method of achieving astral projection is not well detailed as it is in other books on the subject, but this is NOT a book about APing, it's more of a very well done complete energy magician's guide.Again, a LOT of exercises are well thought out and detailed, and even made into games, and if you spend the recommended time doing them, you will get a LOT out of this book, even though it would be somewhat time consuming to get good at them, not unlike any serious hobby.

chaos hoodoo
We didn't really like this book. It wasn't what we expected nor did it appeal to us when we read it. However, it is not our intention to review the book based on the fact that it wasn't what we thought we were getting but on what it actually is.First, we thought it would have more to do with Chaos Magick and while it did have some Chaos Magick in it, it was really an eclectic merging of Chaos Magick, modern Hoodoo, often quoting our friend Cat Yronwode's Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic: A Materia Magica of African-American Conjure who kindly gave our daughter one of her first jobs at her Lucky Mojo Curio Company, and the sort of modern, some might say post modern, electric and pop culture magic of Taylor Ellwood. But mostly, this is a book for beginners, particularly very hesitant and skeptical beginners, giving numerous exercises to develop one's magical and psychic skill. There is no doubt in our minds that if one proceeded through these exercises faithfully that one would indeed make great progress on one's magic path. For us, it was all too much of what we'd been through ages ago, but for the novice this may be just the book sHe is looking for.the Silver Elves authors of the The Book Of Elven Magick: The Philosophy and Enchantments of the Seelie Elves, Volume 2

I loved it
I love this product. It was very well-written. and informative. I didn't finish the whole thing. I'm at Chapter 7 or Chapter 9. But so far, I love it. and I've tried some of the exercises. Tho, some of the exercises you can find anywhere. Like going to the shower and imagining your stressed being washed away. You could read that anywhere. That's nothing new. Or using the toilet to flush your troubles away, again, nothing new. Or the exercise where you rub your hands together and play catch with your energy. Again, nothing new. But it is a great book. Well-written. I really just like his writing. Like at the beginning how he said something like,"People who are into the magic path usual have gone through a series of coincidences that have brought them to the magic path." That's true for me. and it's not preachy. Most people like to preach to you about black magic. Not him. He just says to use common sense,"If you go around cursing people non-stop. Somebody's not going to like it, and they would cast a curse on you." It's common sense, but it's something that people need to read.Don't get me wrong. I don't care if you cast curses or not. But some people, they seem to ONLY care about cursing people non-stop. and if all you want to do is curse various people then is the problem all these various people or is it you? Well, you could do it if you want, I really don't care. But like the author writes,"If you curse people non-stop, somebody finds out about it. They are going to cast a curse on you." The author continues,"Like-wise, if you heal somebody non-stop, somebody's not only to like it. and cast curses on you for healing people." The author seems to strongly believe to only use magic for spiritual growth and well, I agree.

extremely offensive, vague and downright dangerous
Offensive: page 121 and I quote the heading. "The Wank Method from Grant Morrison as a case study"Vague: "ring the bell 23 times because 23 is a lucky number" no further explanation given...Dangerous: Creating/invoking entities chapter.I have studied the occult all my life and in books of this advertised nature extreme warnings are given before certain practices are described. Not in this book which is a mash up of NLP and dark magic, a bit like throwing the keys of a racing car to a teenager that had not passed their driving test. What is most frightening is the frivolous level of ignorance displayed by the writer. I have never wanted a book to be banned before but this one qualifies.Overall rating -10 stars

One for the Cognicenti!
You have to hand it to this guy! He tries hard! Better still he succeeds! This book is one of the best I have ever read. I like to buy "magick" books to see if there are any exciting developments I am unaware of, or can integrate into my system. The big surprise with this manual, is the care and foresight taken in the manner information is presented. This dare I say it... "Magnum Opus" - will be hard to surpass. Mr Vitimus has made "Chaos Magick" accessible and (shock horror) made it fun into the bargain.I have been an eclectic neo-shamanic type since the late '70's, so I am not easily impressed. This book IS impressive at 386 pages you get what we call in the UK "The Full Monty". If you only ever buy one book on the subject, buy this one. The thick volume has virtually everything you need to get started (and then some) and give you not only a very good foundation but, perhaps; a handle on some things which are very hard to master for some people. This book has to be in your library...

ok but annoying writing style
This book seems to draw a great deal on folk magic. I intended to work through the whole book but gave up as the writer's style is too annoying and American. And his bio is rather ridiculous.

Rubbish
A load of rehashed mindfulness, self-help and new age bollocks.
