I haven’t done paint by numbers since my childhood and this cardinal is not for beginners.There are 19 different colors and three brushes provided. There are also two hooks with screws, but I haven’t quite figured out what to do with those. My flat brush has one bristle that needs a trim. Of course, I didn’t notice until after I started painting, so check your brushes.The canvas comes folded and needs a good ironing before you can start. I wasn’t sure how hot the iron could be, so I managed to get most of the wrinkles out, but not the main center fold. I’m OK with that.This project is so detailed that some of the numbers are very difficult to read. An instruction diagram is also included for reference, but I found pulling out a magnifier to be immensely helpful. Unless you have spectacular eyesight, you may want a magnifier, too. Reading glasses just didn’t cut it.As I struggle to do this project well, I keep reminding myself “there is no wrong way to make art.” Every mistake just makes this project more “me” and in the end I will have a painting that I never could have completed if the canvas was blank.

looked forward to this print. It was folded in half and then in thirds. Tried everything to get the creases out, to no avail. If the print had been rolled instead of folded it would have been better.

I normally love these paint by numbers, but I can’t even see the numbers to paint! I’d like a refund or another one sent to me.

This image holds a lot of symbolism and I plan on painting it, framing it, and gifting it. The color palette is not surprisingly limited, but the vacuum pack was sealed well so all of the paints were safe from drying out. The detail on this is impressive, but not too hard, about a 3.5/5 difficulty. 5/5 stars!
