Fits easyJet underseat sizing
I’ve been looking for a bag that I could use for weekend trips home, without adding easyJet luggage costs. This is ideal - pretty much the max size allowed for underseat carry-on, in its unexpanded state, with osprey quality, comfort and robustness. No internal space wasted with unnecessary pockets/dividers etc. However, as a soft bag, I did need to resist the urge to overpack, which may have made it too bulky for the sizer.

Well designed underseat cabin bag
The media could not be loaded. This Osprey bag was recommended to me as a good quality cabin bag that would fit Ryanair's underseat cabin bag size. It is slightly over the dimensions on Ryanair's website but fits their sizer perfectly as long as you don't use the expandable (+6) feature or overstuff. It's a bit more expensive than its competitors for this category, such as Cabin Max, Aerolite, etc. but it's by far the most comfortable one that I have used. It also has some great design features, such as a laptop sleeve, luggage pass-through, bottle holder and an organiser panel that make it easier and more enjoyable to use than its competitors.

Superb quality
It is spacious and sturdy and very comfortable to carry.Just be aware if you pack it full it can be quite heavy.Using compressing packing cubes and vacuum bags I managed to squeeze things for weeks travel (and did not pack light).Good thing is - althoug its size is bit larger than small Ryanairs carryon bag, it goes under seat, even fully packed.

Good but the laptop is deep inside, you can't get it out easily
Nice shape, comfortable, bigger on the inside like a Tardis. But there is no separate compartment for the laptop. There is a sleeve inside the backpack, but under all the main compartment, so to get it out you have to almost unpack. This is going to be awkward at airport security, hard to get the laptop in and out quickly.

Genuinely a bit special in yellow
I recently took a family of 4 to India with an array of hang luggage-sized Osprey bags to avoid having a large suitcase to lug around small taxis and trains etc. This approach also helps as progressively packing and getting out of hotels is less stressful than having a single suitcase. This expandable bag delivered a number of things that I liked about it:1. The yellow colour is much darker and more subdued than it appears in product photography, but you can always see it, remember to pick it up, spot your partner in a crowd and feel relaxed that it hasnt been keft behind etc. The fact it is darker than advertised means it doesnt look too garish as a day bag, and in hotel lobbies etc. Yes, you look like a tourist, but not like a scumbag.2. The size prior to expansion is a good size for a petite wife to handle.3. The expansion was eminently useful once we had stocked up on souvenirs etc. It is in a useful direction and the bag becomes deceptively large.4. As you can see with my obsessive purchasing of Osprey bags, it is just very well made. It looks and feels very good.5. I preferred this bag over the 44 litre black Daylite rucksack in the same range, which was flappy and unstructured and really is just a roll-on suitcase substitute. This also has little structure to it per se, but the smaller size allows it to keep its shape to a greater degree. I'd be happier using this 26L bag for a work trip, for example.6. The bottle pockets add greatly to the versatility.7. The ventillated back panel is of greater use in a daypack in tropical climate than it perhaps seems. I'd still prefer a fully netted back for a daypack, like the black Deuter which was our primary day pack. But when we needed a second day pack as we knew we'd be shopping, the vents made this pack more than a viable option. The chief drawback of this pack is that it is not hugely technical. There are limited pockets and internal wizardry. But its a pack thats in the daylite range, so thats kind of the point of it. The external zipped pockets on the front/top are somewhat useless in my view. Quite challenging to get your hands into once the bag is fully packed, not suitable for frequent use.The other Osprey bag I'd totally recommend is the satchel / handbag shown. That thing is a game changer for a man on holiday. Absolutely loved it. The bottle pocket and other pockets make it especially useful, a great bit of design in that bag. Although perhaps Im just a man discovering how useful handbags are to women. But that bag further cements my appreciation of Osprey's design.Final comment, look at the weight of the zips that Osprey use. Makes such a difference to the use, feel and longevity. Theyre always just that bit heavier than everyone elses.Buy it.
