Update: contacted support to troubleshoot the up and down buttons not working and the support team replied the same day, and gave me next steps along with 2nd option for resolution if original troubleshooting didn't work. I was able to fix the desk! Would 100% recommend this desk for below reasons and now for same day tech support. Email is a bit buried so here it is - [email protected]. Original: 4 years later and the electronic up and down buttons died. The desk by itself gets 5 stars but since I bought it as a standing desk, it looses stars for longevity. The desk size is great and comfortable, I can have multiple monitors, space for keyboard and also all my extra work items of lamps, notebooks, pens etc. The table top is sturdy and thick, and while I use drink holders, nothing has chipped or bubbled up over the last 4 years. The light color is helpful too to hide dust. I would say the desk doesn't have good housing for the battery pack and wires, and I had to get creative how to tie back the wires so they don't get in the way. I am going to search for the vendor to find out what I need to do to make the up and down work again since the rest of the desk is working great.

BEST ADVICE: Don't begin assembling until you have an electric drill, tape measure, hammer and several Philips screwdrivers handy. Google and find the manufacturer YouTube page with assembly instructions on your iPad or computer. Watch the video TWICE, then re-run it while you assemble to aid in putting it together properly. Start by putting a blanket down on the floor to prevent scratching of the painted legs and formica top. Initial assembly of the legs is fairly straightforward. The metal cross beam has a middle piece that you insert into each end. It protects the transmission pole and attaches to the desk top. I'd recommend only soft connecting these parts. You will need to adjust the width of the middle piece after you install the transmission piece and attach the cross beam to the desk top. There is a very useless red dot on the middle piece that says 'maximum' on it. Just tighten screws enough to get them to stay together.... You can tighten it later when spacing on the desktop is clear. When it comes time to connect the two I beam legs with the transmission gear and pole, slow down and watch the video carefully. You cannot rotate just one side when installing this piece or the legs will be different heights. If you screw up, rotate it back down on each side and start again. (I did this twice). It is not real clear how to join the plastic end...but it just takes firm pressure from each side to get them to mesh. GOOD LUCK - expect 40-60 minutes for a novice to assemble this. Once assembled, the desk is sturdy, well designed and very durable. The formica top easily moves up and down from sitting height to standing desk height. I'm tall - almost 6' - and the desk is comfortable at both sitting and standing heights. I did purchase a glass monitor shelf to place on top so the monitor is at an ergonomically correct height. Bottom line is that I'm very happy with my purchase. I would recommend this to a friend needing to work from home. I cannot speak to longevity yet, but there are a lot of these being used at many businesses I've visited. I've never heard anyone complain about them. In contrast, the I kea desk is manually adjusted, similar in price and appears to have a two year life on the height adjusting gear assembly.

So far I am over the moon about this desk. It was pretty easy to put together and only took about 30 minutes. It is roomy and beautiful. The motor works great as well.
