This is a welcome antidote to the more "common" guides and describes a number of sights and experiences off the beaten track. Quite frankly some of them are not worth making a specific journey to see but well worth seeking out if you are in the area as they are in the main redolent of the character of the country and people. Even if you don't bother to visit the sights described, the witty commentary and potted histories here are well worth reading on their own account and you will enjoy this book as you relax next to a pool sipping a cocktail. It also serves as a book that can be read in the weeks leading up to a visit to get you in the mood or after you return to remind you of your holiday and can be read in conjunction with its complimentary volume  Secret French Riviera (Walking Off the Beaten Track)

This is a brilliant book from a brilliant series! It is full of quirky extras which really enhance a visit. The suggestions within are well researched and well presented. They give plenty of scope to expand a plan within the area on many levels.

This book was a small treasure. We found some lovely little places and were not at all disappointed. I wish there were others like it in English for different areas in france. Interspersed with unusual facts and places to visit. Found a lovely hotel with gypsey caravans in the garden that are used as bedrooms.
