Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? - 3rd Edition [Interactive DVD]

Time locked and garbage
Unfortunately this version relies far too much upon as to what was “in” in 2003-2005 as “easy” questions , based upon popular culture at the time. In 2021 these are now hard! There’s something wrong is you have to use 2 lifelines just to get to £1,000. I’ve been playing this for many years (both on the armchair watching tv and on other DVD / PlayStation variants) and this does not occurWe’ve just has an obscure question about a battle in Canada in the 1800s just to get to £1000 which in the real world would have definitely been post £32,000.So no more usage of this disc . Get lost !

Flawed Adult Version?
A few years ago I bought my first DVD of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and it was so much better than the 3rd Edition. The fact that there is perforce a delay between each question and that the game is slow-moving is irksome but acceptable as this is the same in all editions of the popular TV quiz show. What annoyed me was that even though we chose to play the adult version the "Phone a Friend" lifeline almost invariably had eight and 9 year-old children as 2 of the 3 options. We asked their advice on several occasions, even when we did not need help, merely to prove a point i.e., these kids could not answer a single adult question! How difficult would it have been to have 3 interchangeable adults on hand to offer help in the adult version.I did not bother to check if the reverse applied in the case of the kids' version but in any event I feel this might be marginally less annoying since adults, particularly parents of younger children would stand a good chance of being familiar with children's TV shows and books. For this reason I can only award this edition 2 stars.

Totally outdated
We did find this a bit slow at times (for example when phoning a friend, etc.), but that did not detract from the enjoyment. What did was the fact that the questions are firmly rooted in 2004 or earlier. For adults, sports questions from 2004 or prior to that are hard enough, but for children answering questions on TV shows etc. from that era is just impossible. This is fundamentally good, interactive, group entertainment and potentially excellent value, but, hey, update the questions. If the questions were updated annually we would by a copy annually. Surely we can't be the only ones feeling like this, and would that not be good business?

Who wants a better version!
Useful to have the children's questions and the photos but it does not reveal the correct answer when you five an incorrect one. Moreover I had the two earlier editions of WWTBAM and thought the newer edition, which appears to be the latest version would match the more recent TV shows with only 12 questions, timing against the clock for the easier ones and the possibility to switch. The previous games were excellent and have provided many hours of interest but this one is a real letdown

Millionaire 3
This is the usual up to four player Millionaire fodder with a couple of differences, after the £32,000 question, they are all Picture questions and in a few pre £32,000 ones too. Not to everyone's taste, including mine, but others liked it, my gripe is some of the pictures are not recognisable, like some cities, but that's nit picking, generally they're of good quality, and either enhance or detract from the game, a matter of personal taste. The Tarrant Hologram is enhanced in this version and is far less irritating than in the previous versions. The other difference is the choice of either Adult or Junior questions for each of the four players, good for a family with older children or for those who just want an easier way to get your virtual Million pounds!!!If you like this genre and you have older kids who like to play as a family or by themselves, or for those of us who like to take the easy way, I would recommend it, but my preference is for version 2, take the pictures away and I'd love this version, but as I said before, individual preference.

interesting new format
Having played the first two versions i thought i'd give the third a try, its more realistic but a curious variation is the correct answer is not given, unlike the others. This aspect leads the player to play more often as there's no ' memory ' knowledge of the correct answer unless the player's memory is substantial enough to recall all the three wrong answers ! Good fun.

Great Fun for the Family
Can't fault this game - I note the other reviews, but I experienced no bugs at all. It kept the family playing in teams each evening through the Christmas break. We are all hooked. If you plan to use it on the TV in the lounge then ideally (essential if you don't want to sit next to the DVD player) you need a DVD player that has a remote control as it is very interactive. If you like this game on the TV, then you will have a lot of fun - it is just like you are taking turn in the hot seat talking to Chris T.
