This stuff is kind of miraculous
I'd say it's named incorrectly, though... hy-tech promotes it as a sound deadener, though I find this not to be its primary feature. it's an insulative elastomeric paint. insulation comes from their signature hollow ceramic beads, which makes dealing with it like handling thinnish, wet sand. don't forget to stir it. I painted the inside and outside of my van with this. my primary interest was to seal the many panel seams that rust out on a van. and having had a lot of experience with my van prior to painting.. it definitely insulates and is highly water repellant. I'm currently with just the paint for insulation and it seems to be working really well, just observing how it functions before laying in more insulation.don't forget to also get an elastomeric clear coat.. the texture of this dry is a bit like sandpaper and will fill with dirt, degrading its performance over time. I was a little upset in my many conversations with hy-tech, they never mentioned this in spite of being clear about what I was doing. this caused a delay in being able to clear coat it, and by then there was some degradation in the pure white appearance. but, hey, it's a 4x4 van.. dirty is just part of the gamefinally, if you paint over it.. you must use acrylic paint, meaning it must be water based.

SC 1000 Paint Does Not Work
The Licensed Painter from Q's Handyman Service took 3 days to paint 2 Bedroom Ceilings, Living and Dining Rooms. He applied the paint heavily, putting 3 coats in every room. He was very focused in what he was doing, took his time in applying the 3 coats heavily. The result- A Total Waste!!!! The paint didn't deaden any noise at all. I thought it would give me a little relief from the neighbors above me with their heavy footsteps. I got NOTHING!!!! I want a Refund. The Painter used 15 Gallons of SC 1000 Paint.

No improvement in noise
It was supposed to minimize outside noise, but 2 coats on ceiling and walls made no improvement. I was excited to try it but it didn’t deliver.

This paint works!
This paint works, blocked out sounds coming from the apartment above us. The noise has been greatly reduced. The paint is easy to use , non toxic and dries in several hours.

Part of a Comprehensive Sound-Deadening Plan
In a condo, I have a shared internal wall that I am treating mainly to cut the transmission of my back surround sound theater speakers into my neighbor’s living space. I am limited in how much I can widen the wall on my side as I am not willing to give up a lot of floor space. And I am not free to open up the common wall to insert in-the-wall insulation. This sound deadening paint seems likely to provide some sound-deadening and works best as part of a comprehensive eclectic application of various approaches. So far I have used two layers of Rhino Accoustical Panel, several layers of 1/8 inch mass loaded vinyl, green glue noise-proofing sealant on all seams and edges, 1/8 inch plywood with three coats of this paint. And I am not finished with the adding of layers. I plan to add two more layers of mass loaded vinyl, 1/4 inch plywood and a topping of 3/4 inch decorative walnut tongue and groove planks attached by Green Glue Sound-proofing Adhesive. It is too early to judge the finished effectiveness in blocking noise from my side but I already have lost the ability to hear my neighbor’s conversations through the wall and loud kitchen noises like their blender are highly muffled. I suspect that anyone wanting to reduce through-the-wall sound transmission will find the best results through the combined use of sound-deadening products. If you can do the work yourself, then buying multiple expensive products should keep the costs affordable. I seriously doubt that much could be accomplished with a couple of coats of paint alone but mix and match with a belt-and-suspenders philosophy looks like it will do the job for me.

No Difference, no use, safe that money and buy a new house.
I bought 10 GALLONS!I applied this 4 time through out my bedroom, every wall and ceiling. 6 times on specific walls.100% follow the direction, I even gauged the thickness I applied.I believed in this product and I thought order comments were made by those who didn't apply it right. So I wasted 4 weekends and this product doesn't even dampen the sound of my neighbor's TV.Oh and don't forget that $1,000.

Useful, and easy
Used on interior of boat cabin. Has virtually eliminated condensation. Easy to apply and cleanup. Will continue coating inside hull, I like this so well. Replaces older cabin lining. I well recommend it for sailors.Exceeds expectations.
