Great kit for a fair price!
I haven't assembled this kit yet, but it looks great. It works with AA batteries (not included), and comes with 3 drill bits required to make the holes for the optical fiber. Also comes with a bottle of glue ¿? (I don't speak Russian, but I suppose it's glue. I need to investigate). By the way, heads up, the package does not include instruction manual, you'll need to find it yourself in modeling forums.I recommend this seller 100%. It's fast and safe. I got my Zvezda Star Destroyer, from them, and now I got my backlight kit. My package arrived approximately 3 weeks after the purchase directly from Russia.

Not Very Impressive
I ended up not using this kit after purchase. I did use the fiber and a couple of leds in the kit but I found that the kit as a whole would not meet my needs.First off, the blue LEDs for the engines were shrouded with heatshrink. They should not have been. As I attempted to remove the shrouding by gently trimming with a hobby blade, the LEDs separated from the wires at the solder points, rendering them useless. These are not LEDs with the polar leads so I could not just re-solder them. The kit became unusable at this point. I did salvage the wires which I soldered to standard 5mm LEDs.Second, I did not receive a drill bit anywhere near the .5mm of the fiber. Had I drilled with the enclosed bits, the gaps around the fiber in the drilled holes would have been all but unmanageable. I could probably fit 3 fiber strands in the hole made by the smallest bit. That’s way too sloppy for the quality I wanted. I can only imagine the frustration of trying to keep the fiber strands from falling out of those large holes during installation. If you do order the kit, buy about 10 .5mm micro-bits with it. The fiber fits snug in those, no gaps and no fiber falling out all over the place. It’s a bit more difficult to thread the fiber but well worth the effort. You will break some bits. I broke 6.The kit is essentially 3.xV LEDs in parallel run by a 3V (2x1.5V AA) battery pack. Extremely simple, electronics-wise. Since it did not work for me, I made my own. I made it USB chargeable by using an old cell phone battery connected to a USB charger breakout board. Since all LEDs were the same voltage, I placed a 100 Ohm resistor in series to trim the 4.3V of the cellphone battery. I also made it wireless power on/off via another breakout board so I don’t have to handle the model every time I want to light it up. I also soldered my LED wires to a little circuit board to make it cleaner.I found that to be almost as much fun as building the model. Be wary of these kits. They work but the quality isn’t exactly impressive.

Great kit, but horrible instructions.
Great bit of a fiber optic kit. More than enough fiber to fully deck out your Star Destroyer, with TONS of fiber left over.Do yourself a favor, and completely ignore the directions. They make no sense and are probably the worst bit of instructions you'd want to follow for this.Build the model as intended, but leave the bottom and top in separate sections, and also do not glue the bridge to the top section. Wire all your fiber, then glue the 3 sections together. The instructions make this job needlessly complicated and really, aren't even accurate. Just throw them in the trash and use common sense when wiring. For example, they tell you to drill 7mm holes for the thruster LEDs. LEDs are 5mm, you're welcome. They tell you to drill .7mm holes for the fiber optic, again they are off by a factor of 2. You want .5mm holes for your fiber optic.Overall, I still do recommend this kit. It's less than $40 and it brings your Star Destroyer right to life and it looks AWESOME!

You might want to look elsewhere
There's a lot wrong with this kit and there's a few things they got right. The wrongs...the wires aren't long enough to do the job conveniently. The fiber optic cable doesn't work well with any kind of glue. The sleeves over the LED bulbs are too small. That being said, the rights...Three colors of LEDs to add some variety, albeit the red one doesn't shine through very well. The drill bits worked great. Plenty of fiber optic to work with. Assembly was learn-as-you-go, as the instructions included were worthless. You do end up wasting a lot of fiber optics, threading them through the holes to mount properly. The lights for the thrusters don't quite reach their intended mounting spots as the wires are a bit short. The lights for the docking bay did not reach their intended home. Bottom line, you can make this work, BUT you won't have a good time of it. As I understand it, other light kits exist, and you may want to check them out before trying this kit. It's okay, but a real pain in the back to use

Knowing that my grandson was pleased is all I needed to know.
It was the first item that my grandson has ever had from the Star Wars movies.
