I needed something to downsize storage in my spare room, from a big double office cabinet, to free up some space. I read what seems like 100s of reviews for different solutions but kept returning to these types of tool storage as it just fitted my requirements (strong, lockable, neat and tidy, on wheels, and not a complete rip off!) Having filtered through the "man tools" reviews and working out that this Excel Tool Chest should more than meet my requirements I took a punt. The unit arrived very well packaged and with a bit of jiggery pokery my other half did the man thing and put the wheels and handle on for me. Within a short while I had transferred all my bits and bobs over and they fit perfectly. The drawers on this Excel Tool Chest run smooth and feel solid enough (for my lightweight, indoor use). The lock works well and 2 keys were supplied. My only gripe is the drawer liners and top insert. They are very thin and feel a bit puny! Luckily, I found a large mouse mat to replace the top liner and the drawers will be relined with better, as/when required, depending on how the supplied liners hold up. I chose a black unit because it was the least offensive colour option and sort of compliments my decor. I puzzled for a while if I could "disguise" the unit and (also on Amazon) found a printed table cloth that will fit over and around the unit almost perfectly (folded around like wrapping paper!). To hold the table cloth in place, I've bought some strong little "push pin looking neo magnets". When I need to get in the drawers I can just undo a couple of the magnets and lift the table cloth. Voila! Perfect! Versatile storage, in cognito! :) Oh, and this unit is just the right size to fit my 32 in tv on top too (the tv has a central stand which was fortuitous. Now I can watch telly in the room where the unit will be kept but things can be moved around/out of the way, thanks to the wheels and handle on the Excel Tool Chest when I need access. For me, that's as near as to perfect for a solution as I could have asked for!

Very unstable when full, topples forwards if too many drawers are open, so have to remember to have only one draw open. Otherwise a handy storage unit. A piece of wood cut to fit into the top recess can support a small vice.

Well packaged up. Easy to assemble. Works fine. Good solution for tools all over the place.

Took a bit of a chance on this as wasn’t sure exactly what I needed. Turned out a good choice. This is fairly chunky and solid. You have to fit the wheels and a handle on but that’s pretty easy. The draws are really smooth and varying depths. Overal there’s plenty of storage space. The drawer liners are a bit flimsy but that’s about the only negative. Other than that, completely satisfied.
