A nice pouch of stones for succulents. I have mixed some of these through the soil and also added a layer on the top layer soil. These stones are not only decorative, they also help with drainage which is essential for plants such as succulents. It is not a very large pouch but I had enough to do several small single pot succulents. Overall, these is a nice mix that looks nice and also helps the plant.

Horticultural Lava RockI like to use lava rock on my small succulents, sometimes I use it as the entire planting medium and sometimes as a topping. Either way it looks nice and this particular lava rock is very nice as it contains is a nice range of colours. You do need to give the rock a good wash first as it is rather dirty but it’s worth the time as it really brings the colours out. The lava rock is really good for the plants too as it is light and allows air to get to the roots. It is also porous so it takes up water and releases it to the plants over time. The bag was smaller than I was expecting but the rock was good, very decorative and I would definitely recommend.

🔹INTRO & DESCRIPTION🔹I have grown cacti and succulents for many years, as it is a hobby I inherited from my late Dad. In the past I have used horticultural grit bought from the garden centre, however, when I saw this product on Amazon, I decided to give it a try.This product is called horticultural lava rock, and comes in a 500g resealable bag. The components include red lava rock, black lava rock, and five other minerals which are listed on the product page. The pieces are between 3 and 6 mms in diameter.🔹OPINION🔹&🔹CONCLUSION🔹This is a nice product and it does look attractive when placed as a topping on the pots. The colours do show up better when the lava rock is wet, and I would also recommend you wash it before using as there is "dust" in the bag. It is not only for cosmetic appearance, as the rock also helps with drainage. This product also apparently releases beneficial nutrients into the soil.I am happy with how it looks, but I am not sure how much it differs from the horticultural grit which I normally use and which is more cost effective.In conclusion, if you only have a few small cacti and succulents then this is a great product to use. However, if you have a larger collection, it is not the most cost effective way to dress the pots.I hope my review and photos have been helpful to you.

This is a nice mix of lava rock, pumice and other similar substances and grit in a range of sizes but all under approx. 7mm and the mix looks very similar to the listing photos.The mix of reds, buffs, black and green colours looks attractive and would make a nice topping for around cacti and succulents. Personally I will be using it in my terrarium and bonsai soil mixes, which it is perfect for. Nice product.

I ordered this horticultural mix to sprinkle around some cacti that I've recently planted, they were in very poor condition and I'm trying to nurse them to health, although they are in the correct substrate, I'm also hoping this horticultural mix might help the water to drain through when I water them.The bag is quite small, and contains 500g of the mix, this however has covered the surface of all 3 of the cacti bowls, so it does go further than you think it will. It's easy to sprinkle straight from the bag, and the bag is resealable if you don't use it all.Overall it has improved the look of the bowls, it will hopefully help with drainage, and it was easy to put where I wanted it to go, so I'm pleased with it, and happy to recommend it.

Very nice lava rock topping, we’ve used it for planting up some succulent propagation and it’s been working well at keeping in the moisture and aerating the soil.It also looks lovely when it’s wet!The rocks aren’t too large and are easy to work with and I think for the price the quality is very good.
