My EDC Light!
I purchased this as a primary work light. I work inside of machinery and needed a light that was bright and could be moved to light up what I needed to see. The weight of the light is negligible. It is made of aluminum and whatever finish is on the light feels nice in the hand. The magnet on the tail cap is strong enough to hold the light regardless of the orientation I place it. I keep the light charged in my service vehicle and have no problems with the light lasting all day. It does use 18650 cells so if the battery does die I can easily replace it. It do believe it is able to fast charge but I haven't really put it to the test yet. I used a wurrkos HD01 for awhile and the combinations of button presses to get the side light to turn on were a little annoying because the side light was the main reason I purchase the light. This light with the ring switch is very nice and easy to switch between lights. I haven't had a need for the RGB lights yet but they are fun to play with. I originally purchased this on a %50 sale but after owning it for awhile I would easily buy another one for full price if something happened to this light.

I graded on the curve, even though I was disappointed in many ways
I gave this product 5 stars because I graded on the curve. All other color-changing flashlights are even more disappointing than this one. What disappointed me about this product?(1)After turning this flashlight off and then turning it back on, it doesn't return you to what you had been doing with it. Instead, it returns you to where they want you to start for that particular mode. You might need to double-click the main button several times and waste 40 seconds of time before you can return back to what you were doing and might always want to be doing.(2)Turning the rotary (circular wheel) switch is inconvenient but it's necessary for whenever switching from white-only forward light to white-only side lights to colorful-only side lights. You will eventually choose to stay at just one of these three modes so that you won't need to turn the rotary switch again.(3)You will never get the solid, rectangular side lighting that you see in all of the demonstration videos. That's caused by an optical illusion associated with the video camera while filming. What you will get are three separate rows of tiny LEDs. The middle row of tiny LEDs is for colors only, never white. The two side rows of tiny LEDs is for white light only.(4)The charge indicator is disappointing too. A blinking red LED indicates less than 10% charged. A solid red LED indicates 10% to 50% charged. A solid green LED indicates 51% to 100% charged. In other words, you can't know whether this flashlight is 100% charged or only 51% charged. I need to keep guessing my charge level.(5)The instructions don't explain how to use the two tiny black rubber rings or the large wrist band that is provided as accessories. Apparently, some people might want to hang this flashlight on their arm or on a string or chain.ADVANTAGES:Comments for the Sofirn IF23 were negative, claiming that it gets too hot during recharging. One comment even claimed that the Sofirn IF23 starts smoking during recharging. Don't worry about this on the Sofirn IF24. My Sofirn IF24 doesn't even get slightly warm during a long, successful recharging. It's as cold as a steel bar outdoors at midnight. Not much risk of a battery fire.

UPDATE: REPLACEMENT RECEIVED, see pics for new model
Final update: the new light arrived after months, but the sender was willing to make sure I got it despite MANY postal carrier issues. The light works as intended now, and it does carry better than the IF23. Check out the pics, you'll see the differences between the older faulty model I had and the current one with a good switch. Use that to guide your purchases.Old edit: the retailer stated they'd send a replacement, and that package was supposedly sent out 71 days ago as of December 27. Still nothing has arrived, and I haven't been able to come up with a way to repair the busted switch on the first one. Stay away until they perfect the design.Delivered July 22nd, switch loosening by early September, and button stopped altogether by October 5th. I bought this light because I was happy with the several other Sofirn's I've purchased-- the numbering system is hard to remember, but I've got a C8L (great thrower), SC33 (chunky for EDC, but good area light with runtime), SC13 (EDC carry size), IF23 (multifunction light I use at work and still runs reliably to this day), and this disappointment of a replacement for the IF23.The great-- well, it's nice when it works. The beam is more spot than the IF23, so you get a true usable profile with it. It also carries smaller than the IF23-- even though it's longer-- thanks to lower weight and slimmer profile. They also dispensed with the two-way pocket clip that could get snagged on the draw, depending it you had it on a MOLLE grid or similar setup. Also, the rotating switch meant no need to memorize the number of clicks for each function. The not-so-great-- THE SWITCH. Specifically the rotating mode selector ring. First, you can't feel a difference between the modes. No biggie, a dab of JB Weld on the OFF position remedied that. Than, I noticed it started losing the detent grab, sometimes rotating while on my belt simply from my shirt brushing against it. Then it started to loosen further, and there was no way to tighten it down. Also, it's a magnetic switch, so any magnets close to it will activate random modes. Now this morning the button has ceased to function at all. It remembers the last setting, so I'm stuck with that, but no ramping brightness or changing colors. Also, it uses the more common 18650 cells, which is good and bad depending on if you want lighter weight or better runtime. You also lose the ability to run the light as a battery bank to charge your phone, which came in handy a few times with the IF23. Finally, Sofirn in general has weaker magnets in their tail caps. It makes it harder for longer lights like the IF23 & IF24 to stick at certain angles. Wuben has a pretty strong magnet in their X-0, for example, and I know that it's a smaller light, but Sofirn's SC13 grip doesn't compare and they're the same size.In summery, it was nice when it worked-- and when it did, you still had the switch tactile issues. If they made the detent stronger and had a working button, it would be a decent large EDC light-- until then, stay away.
