IF ONE IS SERIOUS ABOUT PURSUING A CAREER IN INVESTIGATION WHETHER ON PRIVATE BASIS OR ON BEHALF OF GOVT. POIROT IS COMPULSIORY.THIS BELGIAN APPARENTLY UNIMPRESSIVE SOLVES HIS MYSTRIES BY APPLYING BRAIN POWER AND NOT BY MUSCLE POWER.HIS ONLY COMPARABLE COUNTERPART IN INDIA WAS BORN UNDER THE PEN OF THE GREAT SATYAJIT RAY AND INDIA KNOWS HIM BY THE NAME OF FELUDA.SO DONT WASTE TIME START READING HIS MAGNIFICIENT BRAIN WORK AS REFLECTED IN THE CRIME DETECTION BOOKS BY AGATHA CHRISTIE.

Good collection of stories, lots of references to Hercules, greek mythologies, and ancient civilization. Leisure reading for weekends and repose.

To start, this is a collection of short adventures of Hercule Poirot that appeared in five different books- Poirot Investigates, Poirot's Early Cases, The Adventure Of Christmans Pudding and other stories, Murder In The Mews and other stories, The Labours Of Hercules and one novella from The Regatta Mystery and other stories. So, essentially, if you are a Poirot fan and a collector, you can buy this book and save money from buying 5 books as told before (Regatta Mystery contains only one story of Poirot, later retold by replacing Poirot with Pyne, another character created by Christie ). The collection is good and some of the stories are really interesting. I was disappointed with The Labours of Hercules collection. It seemed that for most of the twelve labours, they were forcefully made into a plot figuratively in allusion to the mythology stories of Hercules' tasks.The book was bought at about Rs. 550 and was delievered in a day in good condition. However, the book binding is not that great considering it is a thick book and so the spine should have been more robust. While reading the spine can get a little dislocated so one should be careful while reading the book.A great collection, nevertheless...

Loved reading each story!

This (not so) little package of precious short stories is all you need if you're a fan of Agatha Christie. Almost all the stories live upto the classic Christie level with a few exceptions.I might be a little biased because she is my favourite author but I loved every single story. I loved Hastings too but he appeared in some of the stories.Mrs. Vera Rossakoff *wink* *wink*. Well, those who know, know.Poirot might be a little vain but let's be honest here, he deserves it and I thought his realistic approach to problems and Hastings' romantic one balanced each other perfectly, just like Holmes and Watson.Overall, I loved it.

There was Sherlock Holmes, the one and only – I should never be able to emulate him…Who could I have? A schoolboy? Rather difficult. A scientist? What did I know of scientists? I could see him as as a tidy little man, always arranging things, liking things in pairs, liking things square instead of round. Four and Twenty BlackbirdsMy Review :Many of the stories are from previously published books, but found some new treasures among the old. In particular, I'd never read "From the Labors of Hercules", a series of 12 stories all based on the 12 labors of Hercules.Some of the stories may not be as good as the others. But it doesn’t matter, because there are so many wonderful moments that a cumulative effect begins to takes place. All we remember is how much we love these Poirot mysteries. Reading these stories is like visiting old friends.

The challenge is to discover the murderer before the reveal. I’ve been rarely able to do so. Brava Ms Christy. Excellently written. A wonderful distraction from cares of this sad world.

Great when reading before bedtime. There are a lot of stories I can read entirely as they were originally published in magazines.
