Q: Why won’t my tremolo bar fit in the slot? I don’t see a lock mechanism that’s keeping it from going in.

Lift the tremolo up with the bar in, the allen screw for tightening the bar is on the block under the tremolo plate.

Q: Where are these ivy guitars made, and by whom?

From what I've found on line, they are an established Korean guitar mfg, who opened a factory in Viet Nam. It's actually IYV guitars

Q: what are the specs of this guitar? what kind of wood, materials, etc?

It is a 25 1/2 inch scale ( ie strat/Fender) 24 fret (2 octave) neck, (Pretty flat, @ 12" radius, Fast) 1v 1T & 3 way switch, the Trem says Willkinson. I had the spring cover off, the body looks like real multi piece, not photo finish. I'm no expert, but I think it's mahogany/maple going by weight (@ 8 lbs) The only guitar I have that's heavier is my Les Paul. Keep in mind though all guitars need to be tweaked/setup for your own style and comfort. If they made this guitar hardtail (fixed) bridge and string through, I'd be ordering one right now. I'm considering buying a different IYV model to see if I'm as impressed with their other models as I was with this one. Good looking, looks like @ 1/4- 3/8" maple cap
