MaxpeditionFliegerduffel Adventure Bag, Black

I am going to start by saying that I did not buy this bag for travel, but more so for my everyday carry bag. I liked this bag even before I got it. It came in yesterday even though FedEx said they had it on truck out for delivery for nearly four days. As soon as I opened the package I could see the quality of this bag and the feel of it was something I thing will last me a long time. one thing I like is that I had read that Maxpedition had stopped putting the clips on the shoulder straps, but mine has them. do not know yet how this is going to work out or why they have been taken off the newer bags. I am glad to have gotten an older bag with them. My grandson that is two just had to climb into the bag and have me carry him around then got mad at his mother because she would not leave him in it on her back. I am very happy with this bag so far. It is bigger than I thought it would be so I am glad I did not get the larger duffel. The construction on the bag feel strong and not as heavy as some other bags that I have had. I like that this bag has the padded liner inside and the soft liner in the top mesh packets. It easily fit three outfits and a hammock, tarp, summer sleeping bag, my pack towel, a wind breaker/ rain jacket, a jetboil flash with utensils, my camp knife, headlamp, a solar battery pack, and a few other odd and ends. Simply put it is a good size bag that is made well and had what I was looking for in my EDC bag. I would say that if you are thinking about this bag get it and you will like it. I will add to this review if i have any issues with the clips on the shoulder straps as they and the ones for the backpack straps are my only concern. I plan to use this bag on a daily basis.

Great product!!! lots of storage space, well built and looks good to. Now, if I could only get someone to carry it once it is fully loaded....I packed this and took it as my only bag for a two week trip over seas. Each airport question if it was legal carry on size and in every case it passed the size and weight requirements, much to the attendants surprise - it looks bigger because it doesn't have wheels but it is indeed the correct measurements for carry on. I even had room to bring back some souvenirs. It was great for the many airport transfers, pulled out the straps and carried it easily through the airports, and tucked the straps away before stowing it.It is an awesome bag - got lots of questions and positive comments on the trip regarding it. I would say it is THE BEST BAG I HAVE EVER BOUGHT!Used it for a school trip and was able to pack a sleeping bag and pillow inside of it along with the other items needed. We the kids had two or three things to carry, I had everything in the great bag!!! I'd give it more than 5 stars if it was possible.

Outstanding piece of gear! I ordered this for my son, who just completed Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island. As a former Marine myself, I wanted him to have a bag which he could utilize to transport both civilian clothes, as well as uniform items while traveling on orders. This bag is all that and more. Before he left for SOI, we packed two sets of camouflaged utilities, boots, two changes of civilian clothes and his service Alpha uniform with no problem. In addition, the bag is the required 14x9x22 size to meet the FAA carry-on requirements. This proved to be a saving grace, as both his sea bag and uniform bag arrived two days late...fortunately he had enough in the bag to operate until the latter made it to Camp Lejeune. My son was particularly impressed with the shoulder strap, and the ability to utilize the back pack straps if he so desired. The grab handle is cushioned, so it will not wear into your fingers while transporting. The multiple zippers are rugged, with large teeth. Multiple compartments make this tactical bag an organizers delight. Lastly, he and I both like the coyote brown color of the bag, which matches with his other Marine Corps gear. He called to let me know how many compliments he has received about the bag, and how well it has worked out for him. I also purchased the Maxpedition tactical luggage lock, which works great with the main compartment zipper. Though the bag is a little on the expensive side, it is well worth the cost and should serve him well for many years into the future. I only wish I had known about this bag when I was in, as I cannot compliment enough the quality of the material and the overall durability and usability of this particular piece of gear.

Can be used as an over the shoulder bag, or backpack. Multiple handles if you want to just carry it. Great size as a carry-on bag.Multiple smaller pockets to organize your stuff.

I bought both the fliegerduffel and the doppelduffel bags. While very similar at first look, the doppel is almost 50% roomier and for a few more bucks a better choice, especially for guys travelling by train, car or simply by foot. However, if you look for a great looking duffel bag, that can be used as a back pack too and can fit the onboard luggage requirements, the flieger (flyer in German) is the obvious choice. Very solid made, light and water repellent is hard to match by any other cabin designed luggage. It doesn't have the rolls, but the back pack configuration or the over the shoulder one are very confortable for most frequent flyers! Not to mention that it can easy take enough stuff for a couple of days trip.

First Maxpedition Fliegerduffel I owned lasted nearly 15 years. Happy to get a second that has the same or better build quality. Worth every penny!

Great carry-on bag to travel with on adventures when not paying for checked luggage. Maximizes carry on capacity (no structure built into bag for wheels). Can use it as a backpack or shoulder bag. Very durable.

If you know Expedition you have hardly any doubt about the quality of the materials and craftsmanship so let us put that aside. What might be less obvious is the size. It looks real big, it feels really big... but it perfectly fits Rayanair cabin luggage requirements. You can pack as much as you want, ware it as a bag, duffel or a backpack, and still have no worries at the airport.One handy tip: you'll probably need some organizers as this bag has hardly any compartments or divisions and things tend to fly around in it.Oh, did I mention it looks darn awesome!
