This is a great show piece for a shelf. Looks great. It is navigational quality. I've used the real thing as a licensed merchant marine officer for years. This product is more than enough for a shelf in my house. It is perfect for the house and if you buy it with that in mind you will be pleased.

Be sure to thoroughly inspect your telescopes, mine has cracked glass on the tinted telescope but I already threw the packaging away so I doubt it can be returned easily.The rest of the craftsmanship is amazing, well packaged, it was definitely broken sometime before shipping.

The box and sextant are gorgeous and made for a great gift. My only criticism is that the instructions for how to use were poor photocopies of another document, a bit difficult to read BUT there are heaps of videos that are way more helpful than instructions
