AU1210MA Professional Grade High Security 12-Sheet Micro-Cut Paper/CD and Credit Card/ 60 Minutes Continuous Run Time Shredder

Only had it a few hours. Having saved lots of personal info I didn't want to trash without shredding since my old machine died. I've gone thru enough for two bins. So far so good. I haven't tried more than 10 sheets. It slows a bit on 8 or more, but works. I'll likely keep my feeds to 6 sheets just to make it easy. Ran it practically non-stop for 30 minutes twice and no issues. Does a real nice job cross-cut shredding. Seems to match its P4 claims on shredding sizes. Shredding unit itself is quite heavy. It rolls easily on the wheels it comes with though they are on the small side. After the first bin I oiled it and it seemed quieter. Maybe it needs oiling a bit when you first get it. It is fairly quiet in any case when running. Cord is nice and long. I do think the lower part of the unit and paper bin are on the flimsy side. All a snapped together affair and the bin has some grooves/wheels to guide it in and out, but I wonder how well it will lock in place with more use. And you'll want to handle it with care as it flexes just taking it in and out and handling to empty the paper. Seem like for the price this plastic part could have been a millimeter thicker and more robust. I haven't tried credit cards or CDs. I'll keep staples and paper clips out of it. Why abuse your machine? I usually use some small bolt cutters on credit cards. Easy to snip into pieces. I'll just shred paper I think. Pretty happy, it is more powerful and shreds much smaller than my old cheap machine from Office Depot.

The last couple of days I've been cleaning out! Lots of old account statements, bills, tax returns and other files that needed to go. Although I've had this shredder for over two years, this is the first real test I have given it. It took on everything I threw at it and did it quietly with seemingly no strain at all. It says it's rated for twelve sheets at a time. I had a lot to shred and was pushing it, not really counting pages. There were plenty of times I know I was feeding it beyond its twelve page rating. Didn't heat up, didn't stop, and didn't even slow down. This machine would probably not be suitable for a business environment, mostly because with multiple users, the bin would require too frequent emptying. But for a one or two person home office, it's perfect.

I've had this shredder for a few months now and so far it has not disappointed me. It's fast and reasonably low-noise and can shred several pages at a time without difficulty. Of course it's a small shredder so the bin fills up fast, but I knew that when I bought it. It is used in a small home office with a fairly low volume of papers being shredded weekly, so my use is pretty light. I cannot say how it will hold up if you are a high-volume shredder of documents daily, but like I said, no problems thus far.

UPDATE: NEW shredder showed up and immediately ran a lubrication sheet through it. So far so good. Increasing the stars to 4, as this has been pretty reliable through about 10-15 hours of shredding. I know there are reports of strings that do not shred cross-cut... it is because of lubrication. Make sure you run the lubrication sheets thru the shredder every 10-15 hours. The quality control is unacceptable, and the fact that I had to return the first one is irritating. To the companies defense the product is better than most.... when you get a good one! While I really want to use this shredder, I refuse to pay for used or damaged goods, and just make do. I love all the features, and it seems that people that get working units are truly happy with the auto-jamming remediation feature, it seems that the casters actually work for a heavier unit, The storage basket is a decent size, and along with the Micro-cut should allow the unit to be used for home use for a long while without having to empty the bin?! The build quality is better than our go-to brand -- Fellows, and we are trying this unit because of poor decisions Fellows has made in their bin construction and blade materials. I am excited to see a shredder use mostly cast metal blades... not as good as milled steel, but better than most on the market right now. My BIG problem is the first unit I received had a hole punched in the side of the box, the unit had paper debris in the blades, and the press-fit tabs on the head unit had wear marks, so it was obviously used. I just received the replacement unit, and this one has 2 holes punched in the box. After verifying the blades were new and no visible wear, it was assembled. It seems to work. I will keep it even though I am not happy with the mishandling, and the hassle trying to get a new product. Amazon, and or Aurora need to improve their quality control. This is unacceptable for what is supposed to be a NEW purchase?! I will update this review once I spend more time with the item and can more accurately comment on the functionality and build quality.

I ordered this shredder after returning another brand that did not live up the micro cut specs. It was more expensive than I wanted but had all the features I was interested in. It has turned out to be the best shredder I've ever had for home use. True Micro-cut, has a larger paper bin, wheels for easy moving and run time is longer that other models. Overall it has been well worth the price.

I was looking for a shredder to replace my very old GBC Shredmaster strip-cut shredder, which was adequate for low security work, but left the papers easily reassembled and only ran for less than 10 minutes before needing to cool down. I chose the Aurora AU1210MA based on a recent Consumer Reports review which rated it a 70 vs. the Fellowes Powershred LX22M at 89, but the latter costs more than three times as much and only has a 30 minute run time vs. the Aurora's 60 minutes. The only other higher scorers were the Tru Red TR-NMC122A (scoring 72), which was about the same price and was rated slightly better for noise but it has a 5 minute run time followed by a 60 minute cool-down, and the Amazon Basics 8 sheet Microcut (scoring 71), costing quite a bit less, but it also has a 5 minute run time (with a 30 minute recovery period). The Aurora arrived very well-packaged in a sturdy box with tight-fitting cardboard inserts that completely protected it from damage. It was not inside of a second box, and there was no need for one. It was easy to assemble and was more compact than I expected it to be. It weighs about 22 lbs, most of which is in the shredding head. The wheels make it easy to move around. I'm not sure if it would work with shredder bags, due to the bin layout, but I'm emptying it into a 30 gallon paper lawn/leaf bag so I can meet my county's requirements for curbside recycling of shredded documents, which prohibit plastic bags. The large opening of these paper bags makes it easy to empty the bin without spilling any confetti. I've now been shredding old records containing sensitive information like Social Security numbers for several days and this is what I've noticed: the Aurora has never stopped working, despite some long shredding sessions and some thick sheafs of paper, and it has yet to jam. I've nearly filled a 30 gallon bag. It is very quiet, despite Consumer Reports rating it as a 3/5. My only minor complaint is that the bin isn't quite as sturdy as the rest of the unit, and requires a bit of care when reinstalling to make sure it is aligned properly so it will close completely. One thing I noticed from reading the owner's manual is that it can be oiled using ordinary vegetable oil -- no need to buy special purpose shredder lube or pre-treated sheets. That should save money over the long run. I've not oiled it yet, since it's just a few days old. I have shredded some stapled documents with no problems. I haven't tried any credit cards or CDs yet. I think that this shredder will give me many years of service and I'm very happy with my purchase. While I would have loved to own CR's highest-scoring unit, I couldn't justify spending around $400 for it and I really appreciate that the Aurora has the best rated endurance of any of the models I considered.

The best shredder I have ever bought! It can manage a significant amount of paper without overheating and is designed for efficiency. It is also very quiet. I also like the "micro" cut, so the pieces are much smaller than the cross-cut shreds. It is the perfect shredder. I just got it, so I hope the quality is there to last me a long time. If I encounter problems with it over the next year, I will update this rating.

Works great shredding multiple sheets of paper at a time. They are unreadable after shredding which is great. It is relatively quiet as shredders go. Never had it stop even shredding for 20 minutes. Also shreds credit cards, staples and others. I do not want to shredding CD'S even though it says it will since that may dull the blades. I liked it so much I bought one for home and one for my home office.

Unfortunately i am so used to products advertised on the international amazon sites having 110-240 auto switching power supply. I didn’t expect that Amazon would advertise, take payment and ship a product that is INCOMPATIBLE in the country whose amazon site i was shopping (UAE). And upon arrival i read the manual which says nothing about voltage limits. But upon receipt after reading the manual thoroughly I plugged the shredder in and POP BOOM sizzle - thats the end of my shredder. $200 plus wasted in 2 seconds. Not happy!!!!

Buena trituradora, acepta gran cantidad de papeles y dura un buen rato sin calentarse, los papeles salen en pedacitos chiquititos, lo que ayuda a la confidencialidad y el objetivo de trituras, aparte aguanta todo tipo de material desde discos CDs, tarjetas tipo departamentales o bancarias, cartón, lo que lo hace ideal para casa, silenciosa y padrísima, solo es un poco difícil de limpiar y cuando se traba es complicado que te devuelva el papel atorado; aun así ,es un excelente artículo calidad precio.

This is by far the best shredder we have ever purchased. The lower level type (cheaper ones) would stop working after a lot of shredding. The small ones do have their limitations. This machine has a good basket size, shreds paper into very small pieces, have an automatic feeder which is great, and takes quite a few sheet of paper at a time. We usually did about 6 sheets at a time as the paper we use is quite thick (states it can do 12). Its not very noisy... its a shredder so of course there is some level of noise. Have used it multiple times now and ran it close to an hour each time we used it and no jamming, overheating or stopping. Very good product and would highly recommend. (we are also applying the oil (vegetable oil) to the shredder blades as recommended in the instructions, to ensure we properly maintain it).

A mighty and bold shredder it has shown itself to be. It has handle onslaught after onslaught of shredding, where other less worthy shredders would collapse at even the sight of such amounts of paper. None have taken on anywhere near the amount of papers and survived. Not only has it survived but it has thrived, not once did it hold back or get stuck, even when pushed beyond it's official capabilities. Even without yet receiving a single oil replenishment it has held steadfast, not even with a single jam. This beast of a machine is what all shredders need to aspire to, if they only could it would make the world a much better place. Shredding would be solved once and for all. All hail to this mighty shredder, it has done its job with incredible excellence and I would recommend it in all your empires without a seconds thought.

El precio es algo elevado respecto de otras marcas, pero lo justifica su desempeño, para mí ha sido la mejor opción, ya tuve en casa otra de otra marca y más pequeña y la verdad era un fastidio cada 10 minutos tener que frenar la destrucción de papeles para esperar que se enfriara. Con este equipo logro terminar más rápido sin tener que esperar. Satisfecho con mi comprar.
