Brilliant Movie!
One of the better movies I have seen lately, the Blu Ray has lots of extra features including the making of the movie and a look around the real Winchester House! All the cast played their roles extremely, it’s not really a scary/horror movie but a slow build to an excellent and well thought out ending.Bought a used copy but was sent a brand new one which is always a bonus and a bargain at £4

Very average
A quite average film. Good sets and costumes. But not the greatest movie. Worth buying if it's in offer.Mirren us just going through the motions.

Ghosts have their own problems
The lady of the house is grieving for her husband and child at a time when grieving for a husband and child needs to be fathomed out if it goes on for too long. And so, a doctor is brought to the house to determine if Helen Mirren is all right in the head, at least enough to run her late husband's company - Winchester Rifles. She does live in a truly weird house, to which she regularly adds rooms that she designs herself, inspired by the rooms in which the unhappy spirits who plague her, died. Yeah, it's that kind of film. She helps the ghosts find their eternity but can’t do so unscathed. And the doctor would probably understand all of this if he wasn’t so hopped up on laudanum.See, if you've got a house running with demons, an impressionable kid who needs a haircut & a whole heap of guns in the house, you can expect these sorts of hijinks. Absolutely gorgeous palette to this film - lots of dulled down greens, rich reds and loads of shadow.By the end, it feels like the lesson is either: if there’s going to be a war, both sides should have the same weaponry, just to keep everything fair, or, grief can run so deep as to take a person over completely. I lean towards the latter, but whichever they’d chosen should have been made clearer.I really liked the concept of an addled authority figure. It made his doubting himself and the words, "it’s just in your mind," (which is in no way reassuring) compelling viewing.

Yes it's nonesense, but it had its moments, and cost buttons to make
So, I saw Predestination (2014) and was intrigued by the Bros Spierig approach to movie making, and thought I'd give this a try. Though the constantly growing house is an architectural marvel in the movie, the Snook's hairdo is even more impressive as she strolls about this haunted pad slash hotel, looking for wee Henry, who did get on my nerves after a while tbh. Some of the editing and photography is great, and the interiors do help a suspenseful atmosphere on occasion.Although the Dr. Price character had all the investigative skills of a dirty wet flannel, and Helen literally 1906 Telegraphs in her performance, this did bob along and overall kept me interested.
