Works with F-150
This works without issue on our F-150. Much cheaper than taking it somewhere to have codes read. And if you have the software, you can makes changes to your configuration. No complaints.

oem quality but much more affordable
ive been working with this elmconfig obd2 to usb cable for several months on my ford f150. the cable connects properly to my vehicle's obd2 port, and the data transfer has been smooth and without interruptions. very comparable to my professional shop level scanner. when using it with forscan, i’ve been able to access and analyze detailed diagnostic data, which has been so helpful in diagnosing issues ivew been having for my general maintenance. the build quality feels good, and the connection stability has been stable. oem grade & quality & has a rocker switch on it to switch between canbus configs

IF you know what you're doing you can use this cable with FORScan to make changes on your Ford
If you're a techie or vehicle enthusiast who owns a Ford (or Mazda, I guess) vehicle you have probably heard of the FORScan program. In a nutshell, it lets you connect i.e. a Windows laptop to your vehicle vis the ODB2 port and make changes to the vehicle's configuration. There are more such configuration changes than I could begin to describe here. You have to download the FORScan software and install it onto (say) your Windows laptop, and you need a way to connect the laptop to the vehicle to access the configurations. One way is with a bluetooth ODB2 wireless adapter, and another is by using a cable such as this.I'm not going to try and explain the nitty gritty of FORScan, how to use it, where to get the software, etc. All of these things are on the Internet and some very basic information is included with this cable. They tell you where you can download the software and the Windows driver for the cable, which connects to your laptop via a USB port. Some functions and modules in the vehicle require a MS (medium speed) connection and some require HS (high speed); the Forscan software will tell you if you need to flip the switch on the ODB2 plug to MS or HS, and will wait for you to click OK after you do so before proceeding.I bought this cable because I have a couple of Ford vehicles. On my F150 I wanted to enable the ability to control the front door windows from the key fob remote. I was able to do this successfully and now if I hold the unlock button for 7 seconds, the front door windows go down. By holding the lock button for 7 seconds, they close. This could be handy on a day when it might start raining and you're not right by the vehicle. I was also able to add an 'average mph' speed reading to my trip functions in the dashboard info center. Those were the two main things I wanted to accomplish and I was able to do them. The FORScan configuration settings are on the Internet for the assorted vehicles and tell you which settings have to be changed in what way to reconfigure them; this is part of the task of preparing to use the cable and access the configurations.I'll emphasize again that this is not for someone who is faint of heart or clueless when it comes to tech. While mistakes can be un-done it may be difficult to find the mistaken settings to un-do them. If you are tech savvy and not too timid, you can do this. Lots of people do, as evidenced by the large number of webpages and videos describing the process. It's one of those things that if you do it a few times it makes sense and isn't scary but going into it cold for the first time might be off-putting to some.As for this device itself I give it 4 out of 5 stars because the first time I connected it to my F150 the FORScan software gave me a message that the device might not be able to access some settings because a later version is needed - but in my case I just accepted the warning and went on ahead and it worked. There are a row of LED's on the ODB2 plug but on my truck it's not possible to see which ones are lit or what they indicate, as they are either facing up into the back of the dashboard or else facing down at the floor. That did not seem to matter when all was said and done as the software never referenced any reason to look at them.As for the cable itself, it worked as it should, it includes basic instructions and did what it was supposed to. I plan to make a few changes to the settings on my 2016 Mustang GT in the near future.

Works great - even on macOS!
Despite the product listing insisting that macOS is not supported, the device still works perfectly fine on macOS - because why wouldn't it? Provided you have appropriate software, a peripheral device like this should work just fine in any OS.And in this case, the chip manufacturer (Nanjingqin Heng Microelectronics Co.) literally provides macOS specific drivers, though I don't think the drivers are even necessary. For reasons beyond me, the exact chip is not mentioned in the product listing, nor the included "manual", nor is it stated anywhere on the device housing itself. I had to look it up by the Vendor ID and Product ID reported by the device. To save you the trouble - the chip is a WCH CH340.I'm running the free and open source `pyobd` from Github user `barracuda-fsh` in the screenshots.

It is Meh
This can run codes but the software says this is no longer a trusted working model. I was able to run some diagnostics but nothing is changeable unless you pay additional money. You would be better off buying a plug that can actually make changes.

Manual could offer more details
The manual leave much to be desired but YT is a great ally.
