Best book on skin
After 25 years of practicing dermatology, a practice that includes supermodels and actresses, Dr. Debra Jaliman set out to share her knowledge in a short and practical book that explains everything from basic skin care to the latest technology. She has succeeded very well. In simple and direct language, she explains the science of skin care: What promises can be kept and which promises should not be made. The good news from Dr. Jaliman is that everybody's skin can look a lot better. In this book, she will tell you how.She breaks down the complicated science of achieving beautiful skin into simple rules that are easy to understand and easier to follow. The result is that after reading Skin Rules, not a dollar, nor a minute which you spend on skin care will be wasted. Skin Rules is like having a dermatologist move in with you to be your personal skin care coach. With this book in hand, you can be sure you will glow.Dr. Jaliman speaks directly on every aspect of skin care. Here at The Brush Guard, our special mission is brush hygiene and I'd like to quote Dr. Jaliman on this topic:"Wash your makeup brushes and sponges at least once a week... I've seen a surprising number of patients whose acne failed to improve until they actually started washing their applicators. Keep in mind that bacteria build up quickly on any surface, particularly one that comes into contact with your skin."Thank you, Dr. Jaliman!By Diane Baker

Dr Jaliman Rules
This is a must have book. Dr Jaliman answers every question you may have on skin in a concise and informative manner. In fact it is written in such a way that once you start it is an addictive read. You need to know what the next rule is and what common sense, affordable solution the author will provide. That is the true beauty of this book, it is more than a reference guide for specific skin conditions. I read it from cover to cover and was impressed with the affordable solutions which are so easy to adopt. My only gripe is because the book is written for a wide range of readers (there is no discrimination against age, gender or financial situation)when I put it somewhere within easy reach it disappears. I can see I will need to order another copy (or two) to satisfy the household.Skin Rules is refreshingly pragmatic thanks to an Author who evidently understands both the subject matter and her readers requirements.

Very good!
I really liked this book because it was short and to the point, didn't take but a couple hours to read. So I was able to get information quick without weeks of reading. Easy to understand, love the fact she made drugstore product suggestions. I didn't realize all the procedures the dermatologists could do. Great information.

skin briefs
The book is very readable and oh, so brief. I am not sure what the entire intent of the "rules" was other than staying out of the sun.Anecdotal product recommendations from patients generally replaced scientific reviews and personal recommendations.Since the book covers products, I just could not understand why there was no index.I had to thumb thru many chapters looking for a cited product. My recommendation is to write down what appeals to you and the page # so you can have your own reference. The book does supply some useful information so can recommend it on that basis.

My Favorite Skin Care Book
I'm sixty-five years old and have tried a ton of products and read many books on skin care. This is the best, that I've read. It's a breeze to read which is very helpful as most of us are overwhelmed these days with too much to do. The doctor is not writing to push her own skin care line. She has one but never recommends her own products as she knows she could not be objective about them. So she gives you products made by other people including many affordable ones from the drugstore. What you're getting here is really one of the best skin care experts in practice today sharing her knowledge in a way that takes the reader little time and leaves the reader a lot wiser about what really works. With this jewel of a book, you have just about all you need to make your skin the best it can be with the least effort, and you don't have to be rich for most of it. Don't hesitate to get this one.

Really Recomend This Book, Especially to Teenagers
I take skin care very seriously and am always looking for great books on the subject. I really enjoyed this book, it's easy to read and gets to the meat of things. This book reinforced a lot of what I already know about a good skin care regimen, but also covered things that I didn't know, which I will be adding to my skin care routine; such as putting my skin care products in the fridge. She also suggests inexpensive products that I appreciated very much. It's good to know that I don't have to fork out $30 for a "good" cleanser when I can grab something effective for my face and wallet from the drugstore with Dr. Jaliman's seal of approval. And while I don't need any special cosmetic procedures yet, this book also covers what cosmetic procedures are best for problems I may have in the future, not so near future, I hope.... Too bad I'm in California and not New York, where Dr. Jaliman is. :(Overall, great read. I consider it a skin care guide book, great for the most knowledgeable skin care guru to the person that doesn't know what kind of skin type they are. But the group that I believe will benefit the most from this book, are all the puberty stricken teenagers that don't know the first thing about skin care. This book is perfect for them and will put them on the right path to great skin.

Rookie Skin Care Mistakes
As a worker in the skin therapy field, I've been reading this book in an effort to be a life long learner. Some of the things that the author published are completely incorrect - an example right off the top is that she tell readers that the UV nail drying lamps age your hands. This is false and has a credible study behind it proving that the UV rays that these lamps use doesn't prematurely age clients' hands. My superiors and I were both shocked that this women with such a long history in the field had published these incorrect beliefs without proper research.I commend her for pushing the importance of sun protection but wish that she also pointed out the damaging aspects of fake tanning instead of simply singing it's praises (because of their ingredients, fake tan lotions cause glycation and cause the skin to age faster than if one had not used fake tan). Some of her tips were very useful but there is a minefield of misinformation here. Use this book in tandem with your own independent research.

useful tips
I found this quite informative and very comfortable and quick to read. You can dip into it when you need to. I guess you could say it has beauty tips. You hear about Botox and all sorts of laser trearments and options out there, this book gives you a few basic facts on whats out there and a bit of advice on what might be useful.I like he fact that she recommends trying to solve the issue whenever possible rather than cover it, for example sparse eyebrows (from over plucking or after chemo) she suggests creams that can improve growth rather than tattoing them and explains why.I found it informative and with useful tips for almost anyone.

Tolles Buch.
Wer sich für Kosmetik und Hautpflege interessiert sollte sich das Buch unbedingt kaufen. Das Englisch ist nicht besonders schwer, jedoch benutzt sie gegen ende des Buchs ein paar mehr Fachbegriffe.
