Red Winter: The Complete Trilogy

Incredible!
Awesome world with unique and highly relatable characters. I loved the romance and character growth, and some of it was just so cute and funny. Great storyline and plot twists. The heroine may have initially been sheltered, but she was never weak. Respect for her tenacity and the power of her convictions. Hero was annoying, funny, clever, complicated, and I ended up liking him in the end. Wasn't sure for a while if I was going to like him or not. Definitely recommend this series! Read it on Kindle unlimited but I think I may need to purchase it. That's how good it was!

Stunning!
This trilogy was captivating from page one with beautiful world building, engaging character development, heart warming and heart wrenching love and so much more. I read all three books in less than a week, I could not put it down and will not lie I lost some sleep devouring this amazing story. It is so well written! I cannot wait to dive into some of this authors other stories. I will be buying physical copies to read again and again because this has instantly become an all time favorite!

Absolutely brilliant! A beautifully written captivating story...
Wow a gem that I couldn't stop reading! Truly the needle of gold in the Kindle Unlimited manure-filled haystack. Such a pleasure to find such a well written story, characters with depth that you really start to care about, and a plot that's cohesive and interesting all the way through to the end. After maligning KU, I think I should mention that in 925 pages (all three books) I found only one typo, otherwise no errors in spelling or grammar. Thank you!I should also say how I loved having my eyes opened to the rich mythology of Japan. Thanks again to the author for such a great adventure, I look forward to reading more by her!

Very intriguing trilogy
This fantasy world is based on Japanese lore which is very refreshing to find in English where most are based on Arthurian beliefs. The first book starts with Emi going through her day and where the Author weaved this complex fantasy world of magic. This portion of the book is detailed which is necessary to explain this unfamiliar world and is written in what felt like a controlled style which I think was a great job by the Author to reflect the tone of the life the Main Character had led; that is until her true story began. The trilogy follows Emi as the Chosen who is afforded luxuries as she is trained on her sacred duty while she is sheltered from all modern day life, and unfortunately had been told a critical deception to keep her complacent. When Emi learns this Truth, we see her grow; as she encounter each fight for her life, struggle with her duty and fall in love; into a truer version of herself. Emi dealt with adversity with grace which is why she was chosen by a god in the first place; and personally I would have been much less graceful and much more stabby which is why I would never have been chosen.I read this trilogy all the way through and was glad I got all three books at once since I could not put it down. I was also very happy about the happily ever after ending. The pictures included in the books were beautiful and added an extra magic to the story. I have recommended this trilogy to a friend and would seriously consider buying the book to add to my personal collection.

This story was the most beautiful of dreams...
First off, I have to say that I read a lot. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'm usually reading 3-4 books at the same time, per week, depending on what device I'm on. This is the first book I downloaded to all of my devices, from phone to tablet, Kindle to laptop... I read mostly fantasy because I work in social services and I get plenty of reality 40+ hours per week. Everything from weres to vamps is fair game with me. Another of my passions is anime (in Japanese, of course!) This trilogy (which I read all together) has been the best book I've read in many years. The last time I enjoyed the written word this much was when I discovered the Dresden files... Some of the fantasy books usually are pretty lowbrow and I am at times feeling dissatisfied with the bad spelling, lack of story building, and a plethora of other things I won't bore you with...This story, this book, had everything I hope a book will be when I first crack the cover (digital or otherwise). The bow to Japanese traditions, lore, and spirituality is respectful, in which scenery the writer weaves a story unlike any I've read. So many of what's best and what's worst in humanity is inside the pages, along with the ultimate dream, the yearning for happiness and more... I don't want to spoil the story (I'm sure others have already done some of that) but I can assure you that this book is more than worth the read... I know this story, this beautiful dream, will stay with me for a long time, if not forever.Thank you, Annette Marie, for creating such a magnificent and spiritual adventure.

Might Be My Fav Find of the Year!
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon meets Never-ending Story meets Inuyasha! This book has epic fight scenes, character progression, mysteries to solve, great lore, and all the feel-good I could want. I find myself still reading, toes happily curled, long after bedtime, just trying to get a little bit more.

An Incredibly Satisfying and Fantastic Adventure
I almost dropped the novel actually, because the first 10 chapters focused on how especially restricted Emi’s life was as a kamigakari. But Im glad I read through it carefully because it explains so much about her insecurities, fears, and her choices. And once Shiro and Yumei entered the picture, my patience paid off in spades.Overall, the Japanese mythology was well adapted to suit the narrative of the novel and I find that each of the main characters had a distinct personality and they evolved along with the story. I loved Emi, Shiro and Yumei. They were characters that you wanted to root for and wanted to get to know more.I also appreciate that the romance was not what fuelled the plot, but rather, it was a companion to the main plot and enhanced the reading experience.Did not expect to love it as much as I did but I read it and re-read it right away🤣

charming series!
I really enjoyed this series. It’s well written, with likeable characters, a heart-warming romance. Plus I really enjoyed the Japanese setting and the magic systems. I ended up googling many of the references and definitely learned new things. Recommended!

One of THE best fantasy series I've read
It breaks my heart how unknown this series is. I never write reviews but here I just had to. To let people know how good it is and to give something back to the author! If you like fantasy AND manga, this is a must read. But even if you only like fantasy it is still a must read haha. The characters are so well written, the action scenes are absolutely amazing, and the author manages to bring the drama around these characters so alive that it is heartbreaking when the fate of Shiro and Emi unfolds. I read this in nearly one sitting and I couldn't stop thinking about it when it ended. I will re-read this a lot of times, I already know this. Please read this!
