I have successfully used Ssscat sensors for years, but this “2nd generation” product is garbage. The sensor doesn’t work at all. My cat walked back and forth in front of the unit repeatedly, without anything happening at all! I am so disappointed in this purchase! It SHOULD be super easy to use, but I only managed to set it off a handful of times by waving my hand right in front of it. I thought it was a battery issue, but replacing the batteries didn’t make a difference. The original product that was just a battery operated sensor that attached to the top of the spray can, worked perfectly for my cats. After almost two decades of use, most of my original ones have stopped working properly. I really wish I could get the same ones I had before. Other companies sell similar products, but they have to be charged regularly. I prefer the battery operated ones. I worked in a vet clinic for 27 years, and recommended the original product many times, with successful results. At this point, I would never recommend THIS product. The company needs to reevaluate their product, and fix this issue that so many are having. When it costs this much and can’t be returned, it’s not worth even trying it. If you’re on the fence about trying the 2nd generation Pet Safe Ssscat sensor, DO NOT BUY it. Buy one of the products that sits on top of the spray can. You will be much happier!

This worked well to discourage my cat from jumping on the kitchen counter. When first got this and set it up, my cat tried jumping on the counter a couple times to check it out, but quickly jumped off when she got hit with the puff of air. The air spray is odorless, but it is strong and loud. She hasn't jumped on the counter in weeks, so now I mostly scare mysef with it when I forget to turn it off when I need to be at the counter. The censor is pretty sensitive and the radius is wider than expected, so it goes off when I walk by if I dont give it a wide berth. I do turn it off when I'm in the kitchen, but the cat is now uninterested in the counter in general, so its not a problem. This probably wont be the case for every cat, but it worked for me. Assembly was easy. When I first got it, I put in old batteries and had the problem of it going off randomly, but I put in brand new batteries, and haven't had the problem since. I leave it on overnight, and it does not go off at all anymore since the cat stays away.

We had one of these years ago and it worked flawlessly. Ordered this newer style one recently to help one of our cats from peeing in an area it shouldn't pee in. This thing just won't work. I've replaced the batteries twice, thinking it may be the batteries but that's not the case. No matter what setting I try, it doesn't work as it claims. It'll go off when no one is around it, yet our cat can walk right up to it, sniff it, and it won't even detect the motion and alert the cat. This thing is garbage as listed in other reviews. Amazon directs you to the manufacturer to return it or contact the company's support department, but that is a joke. This item isn't even listed on the company's website to get support for and you can't advance with your support request until you select the item you're needing support with. What a waste of money. I wish we wouldn't have gotten rid of our old one from years ago. It worked incredibly well.. this newer model is just junk. Another dissatisfied customer that's out $50+ bucks because I can't return it. Such a scam.. I'm surprised Amazon deflects these complaints and return requests onto the manufacturer with no help from them at all. All I did was waste time going down a rabbit hole on the manufacturer's website that does not help at all because this item is not even listed. So now I'm not only out the money, but I'm really pissed off. Don't waste your money on this folks!

I’ve owned two of the PetSafe Motion Sensor (2nd generation) units for about a year. I never used the first generation, so I can’t compare them, but the 2nd generation started out okay. It took some time to figure out the sensitivity settings and the best placement, but once dialed in, it really did deter my cat effectively. Unfortunately, both units developed the same problem. The first one started going off repeatedly for no reason, draining its battery within a short period of time. I replaced the battery, but the issue continued until the unit became unusable. My second sensor worked great for a few more months — until its battery died. After replacing the battery, it began doing the exact same thing: constant false alarms and rapid battery drain. For something that costs around $60+, I expected much better long-term reliability. Since both units failed in the same way, I can’t recommend the product. It works when it works, but it doesn’t last.

I didn't read ALL of the reviews because I was just so desperate to finally have a fix to my issues. Now $60 went down the drain and I CANT get it back. For MONTHS I have been dealing with my two one year old males pulling, scratching, crying and causing chaos while I am trying to sleep. I lose sleep on work days, wake up cranky and tired, and it repeats every night. I tried everything: putting things to block them from scratching my door, wore my AirPods to block out their constant meowing, sprayed them with water numerous times just for them to come back and start over again. I couldn't take it. I didn't want to resort to this product, but I also couldn't let this go on. So I caved and purchased it. Upon getting the product, it seemed fine, but one thing sort of stood out to me: the warning labels on the can. It claims to be "pet safe", yet it warns YOU that if you inhale it and feel unwell to get medical care, and if skin or eye contact is made: to wash your eyed with water for upwards of 15-20 minutes! What is in this can that makes it so dangerous?! And I would want to use this on my pet?! That threw me off and made me unsure about even starting it up, but I did and used it for one night. When I first started the the device up, it sprayed ME with the can contents. It felt oddly cold, and was VERY loud, and the contents misted, like it was some sort of canned liquid and not air. Almost like dry ice. I used it only ONE night with rechargeable AAA batteries. Went to use it again the next night, won't work. All it does is turn on, then show a solid red light. I assumed maybe - just maybe - the batteries were somehow bad after just charging them the other night. So I charged them up again and reinstalled them. Nope. Same thing. Solid red light. I refuse to believe it is the fact the batteries are rechargeable since the device WORKED the night before. And unbeknownst to me: I CANNOT RETURN THIS ITEM! I did not know when purchasing it that it cannot be returned (which is where I wish I read more of the reviews). And I don't even think contacting support will allow me to find a work around. I don't think I would even want to speak with SSSCat's customer service to get a replacement, since the warning labels on the can itself are already off putting enough. At least I am in the same boat with many others... But I had to learn the hard way, and lose money doing so. Do not buy this product, not mainly because of its win-or-lose functionality, but the mysterious contents you are spraying on your pet or in the air. Now, I'm stuck with living with my cats bothering me at night nonstop, and a funky, faulty machine that cost near $70.
