Last summer, we installed a concrete patio with the intention of adding a covered pergola eventually. We even marked out where the 6x6 posts would go (Where we dug down deeper in the ground for more concrete in those areas) and instructed the contractor to add cast-in steel bases /anchors for the posts at those locations. He forgot to do it.I've been concerned about it because I've looked at the post bases for 4x4's and 6x6's at the box hardware stores and have been unimpressed. They are nothing more than thin sheet-metal that is bent up in the shape of a base. Weak!Fast forward to this summer and we decided to proceed with building a pergola/barbecue area for family and friends. I set out to find something that could be anchored in place -- something that will be super robust. I found these...I've installed the Vikofan 6x6 post bases onto the concrete pad. They anchored solidly in place and the clear cedar 6x6 posts we purchased fit snugly into them. They are wonderful and super stout! These are NOT going to move.These Vikofan bases are tall enough that the lag bolts sink deep into the "meat" of the post -- unlike the thin sheet-metal ones that barely catch the bottom end. These are made of very thick steel with a welded-on base and black satin finish. I believe they are powder coated since the finish coating is thick. They are enjoyable to install and amazing quality.Think about your project and what you need your post bases to do. If it's important that they hold well and last decades, do yourself a favor and buy these. These are so heavy duty and well made! We used them to install 6x6 beams for a pergola on an outside kitchen. We set them on inside of concrete, then set beams inside. They did not disappoint! The pergola it will hold weight that we didn't think it would hold! So impressed!

These are well designed post bases. The required hardware for installing the post is also included, unlike the more expensive ones found at big box stores.The floor/bottom of the base is designed to elevate the post of the ground, concrete, deck, etc. It has adequate drainage holes, and the design and structure of the base solved one of my issues with a concreter patio that has a slight angle for drainage.I gave them four stars only because the finish does not appear to be powder coated finish. It looks like a few coats of a matte spray paint finish.

Apparently one reviewer doesn't understand how lumber is sized and claimed these aren't correctly sized for 6x6 posts. Post anchors of any size are sized for FINISHED, not rough cut, lumber. Finished lumber is sized according to the rough size at which it started, not the finish size it ended up after planing (and has been for at least the 55 years I've been working with lumber). If for some reason you use rough cut 6x6 lumber (why would you?) that is a full 6x6 then yes, you'll have to trim it down but finished 6x6 posts, like treated deck posts, will fit beautifully into these extremely well made anchors. They are very heavy steel anchors that have ample mounting holes for both the anchor and the posts. The anchor can be mounted to the surface on which they rest using holes provided both inside and outside the anchor. There are ample holes provided for attaching the posts as well and a large drainage hole in the center of each anchor. These are not cheap, nor should they be because they are extremely well made post anchors and 6x6 posts are non-trivial posts. If you have a project that you care about these will be a worthy investment for your project. The are powder coated and should not rust. Absolutely excellent post anchors!

If you need a 6 x 6 post hole bracket this is not the item for you these come in 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 so not worth it

Wish I found these earlier. They looks so much sturdier and well-welded.I use 6x6 post for my pergola and I've some off-cut pieces that I intend to use for light decoration. Those off-cut pieces need a base to stand and I got these. I intend to have these bases/posts in my front yard, holding up globe lights.

These are really well built. And are heavy exactly what you want in a post mount

These 6x6 post bases are extremely solid and so well made, plus excellent powder coating on the thick metal… will outlast my pergola! Standard 6x6 post fit snug, 8 drill holes per post base keep the posts secure, and the bottom sits flat and once anchored to concrete… it’s solid. I like the water dispersion from the drainage holes and how the post sits raised to help with the longevity of the wood.Overall, I think this 8-pack of heavy-duty post-base kit is not only top quality and build, it’s a significant cost saving at this price point compared to the big box hardware stores.

Very thick and very well made.The iron is very thick and cannot bend... not even the small "trim" around.Love how it has holes to evacuate water. Even on ground (earth) this will be perfect.The soldering is very well made. All around and not roughly made. If you put these on a surface we can see you will not see those soldering. It is esthetic.Cannot beat this price. Forget the big box hardware stores. You cannot beat also the quality.Excellent buy.
