BENFEI CFexpress Type A Card Reader with USB 3.2 (Gen 2) 10Gbps, USB-C&USB-A 2-in-1 Type A CFexpress Adapter, Compatible with Windows/Mac/Linux/Android

I highly recommend getting a BENFEI card reader as it speeds up your offloading time by a factor of 15.83 times !!! This card has very good packaging, build quality and performance. It also has a USB A converter attached to the USB C connector. If you are trying to save money and still be able to transfer your data quickly this is a great option. Based on my personal experience using the card reader with a Sony CFexpress card, I got 821.48 MB/s Read and 693.72 MB/s Write speeds from CrystalDiskMark on the initial test through USB C Thunderbolt on my laptop when the reader was still cool while I was getting 42.46 MB/s Read and 32.30 MB/s write from Sony A7SIII's USB C port connected to the same USB C thunderbolt input on my laptop. After that I timed transferring a 4,325,727 KB XAVC HS 4K video file using both the camera USB C output and the BENFEI card reader. The results were surprisingly good. It took the card reader only 6.79 seconds to finish transferring while the A7SIII's USB C output took 1 minute 47.54 seconds to finish transferring the same file through the same exact port on my laptop.

Works with android phones but takes a long time to show up in Total Commander. Also I needed to update to android 14 on one phone for it to work properly. Speed is good but limited by the speed of USB-C port. On many phones USB-C speed is limited to 2.0. If you find a phone with 3.0 supported speeds it is much faster. On a computer it work perfectly and much faster of course. Did not get hot for me with sustained transfers but the phone did. In retrospect I may have gotten a type b reader and used a Type A adapter but I didn't know those existed at the time. I would have liked if the cable was replaceable.

I transitioned to a camera that uses a CF Express Type A card for the first time. I invested a lot of money in gear, and didn't want to spend a ton on a card reader, but wanted one that was quality enough to load at an efficient speed. This is definitely the perfect in-between. Good quality without sacrificing a ton of money.

Does the Job without hiccup or issue plugging into my Dell XPS. No need for another or to pay any more.

Compared to what I paid for my Sony version of this, I should give this 10 stars. Sure, the name brand one works fine, but it actually seems slower than this, AND it gets fairly warm after use.. I have only done one test with this and it seems to work just as well if not faster. I downloaded about 50 gig of raw and jpg files but didn't time it.. Just kind of seemed fast enough. For the price, its a great deal.

This reader does NOT work on my Windows 7 computer, even though the Benfei web site says it will. I loaded a Windows 7 driver from their web site and that did not fix the problem. The reader does work fine on a Windows 11 computer. I have another card reader that has both CFexpress, type A and SD slots and that reader works fine in both Windows 11 and Windows 7 computers; I believe that's because the reader has the SD slot.

I have used this a couple of times, and it worked fine. I have only recently moved to express cards from SD's with my camera. While the camera cyclyes internally much faster with the express cards, the transfer from express cards to my external drive bank is not much faster than the SD cards I have been using. The lack of extremely high transfer rate may be due to the external drives rather than this reader of the express cards or the express card. Anyway, it works and seems well made for the price.
