As mentioned by someone else. the strips should not be placed under running water as the chemicals on the end of the stip that provide the reading can be washed off. Instead run the tap and fill a glass of water, then simply dip the end into the water; you will get an instant reading.Others have moaned about the colour chart and that it is difficult to discren some colour changes against the range printed. To be honest it is good enough for what you would use this for. If you are after a calibrated measurable device to measure water hardness then perhaps this is not for you.

Does exactly what it is supposed to. The sticks react quickly and can be measured against the grid on the pack. Very useful to determine the hardness of your water, especially useful if you have a home coffee machine and need to set the water hardness.

Tested cold and hit from softener and pure filtered from main and these strips seemed to report the right result. Both hit and cold showed yellow ie soft and pure showed bronze ie hard. Great. Shows the softener is working correctly. Recommended.

We have had a domestic water softener for over 6 years and I thought maybe it wasn't working well, so got the kit to test it. Brown test strip from the kitchen cold water tap which is deliberately NOT on the softened feed and then the yellow test strip from the downstairs toilet cold tap which is (like everything else in the house). So good news the water softener is working and the strips give unequivocable results.Wish I could say the same for the strips that I use to check Chlorine and other parameters in my above ground swimming pool (note they are from a different supplier).

The product details that this only tests for calcium level change when it is not the only chemical that will affect the water hardness.

Just got a small pack as the shelf life was only 10 months. (Other reviews have mentioned this). I used two tabs, one on known hard water and the the other from a hot tap. The results were very conclusive, I.e. my softener was working. Definitely recommend.
