High Fidelity And Great Style With Sony Quality And Reliability !
Excellent sound ... best to buy non-Sony earphones to optimise sound quality ..I use 'BRAINWAVZ DELTA' ( £14 on Amazon )which are high quality aluminium units and very highly recommended ....incredible sound at the price ! Plus Points Excellent detailed sound quality similar to that of a traditional hifi 'separates' system 3 sound modes including bass boost (Modes 2 and 3 offer 'Bass boost' if you really want it ! ) Great looks and hopefully Sony longevity, engineering excellence and quality components ! No skipping when jogged /shaken Good volume level and high quality 'hifi' sound attainable ( but ONLY with high quality earphones.!) Minus points Buttons on side of unit are all black, very easy to press the wrong one ! Battery removal can be fiddly for older users ! Small LCD display with battery meter can be difficult to see in poor light!

SMALL, FIDDLY CONTROLS SO NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH POOR EYESIGHT. ONLY ACCEPTS PUKKA SONY MAINS CHARGERS.
This CD player works well and sounds great through my Marshall speaker or earphones. The cosmetic damage described in the listing was over-stated and visually it appears brand new. The controls are all very small (and hard to see for people with poorish eyesight) and they are all on the rim, or the edge of the player, which makes using them fiddly and akward. (I'm sure I remember a CD player with some of the more useful buttons on the top of the player, but this one is not like that). Similarly, although there is a tiny screen stating the track number - useful, for example, if you're using a CD to learn an instrument or a language - it is so small that I need a magnfying glass to use it. Perhaps I was unlucky, but my generic 4.5 charger simply would not fit this player, so I had to go back and buy a Sony charger from the supplier of the player, for a further £25. You could get by with rechargeable batteries, though I found the process of replacing the batteries very fiddly indeed. The battery compartment is inside the lid of the player and as the lid will only open to 90 degrees getting the batteries in and out is not as easy as it could be. (It also means that if you run out of power part way through a CD you have to remove the disc before you renew the batteries). The player arrived without the pdf or hyper-link to the instructions mentioned in the description. When I emailed about this the seller copied and pasted what looked like his bog-standard "it's a second-hand item, why can't you people read the description?" reply, which didn't really explain why he hadn't sent the pdf or link he mentioned in the listing, but he did send me the pdf second time around which I needed.

Great Product
I first bought this Sony Walkman in July 2009 and it has been is use every day since. I use it mostly indoors at night for music and relaxation tapes, and in the daytime when doing jobs around the home. The sound quality is very good. Initially the batteries seem a bit fiddly to replace, but after a couple of times it's a piece of cake. I have only one small criticism in that the controls on the side are in black and the same colour as the surround, but I don't even need to look at them now as I know where they are by touch. I have just bought my second Sony Walkman because the original just won't stop playing and will go on and on until the batteries run out. This is still not a problem if you are using it to play music and are awake. However, I also use mine at night for relaxation and a sleep aid and it started to wake me at about 4.00am continuously playing. I intend to get someone to look at it for me as I am sure the problem can be rectified. However, I don't like to be without it for even one night so I ordered another, as I get the feeling that these will not be around for much longer. I thoroughly recommend it.

Dissappointment.
I bought this to replace a super cheapie Alba player with unreliable controls, but guess what - the Alba, when it works, sounds much better than the Sony, which sounds so smooth that all the life has been sucked out. Every CD sounds bland ( and this is with expensive full-size headphones) A minor complaint is the virtually unreadable display and poor control buttons which I would gladly forgive if the sound was better. I expected better from Sony - a definite thumbs down for this one.

Sony Walkman CD player - Excellent
I bought this as a present for my father who is disabled with a stroke and is partially blind and deaf so that he could listen to books. He has now been using it for 2.5 months every day. The volume is sufficient that he can hear (so can we) and the tone is very good even without the extra bass. Yes, the controls are on the side and they are flush, but, once I had told my Dad where they were he has had no trouble in operating the machine, even though he can't actually see them. It has been dropped on the floor and trodden on as my dad had not realised he had dropped it -it just kept going without a hitch in the spoken word. My Dad has had no problem getting batteries in and out. If you have problems just get a bit of thin ribbon and lay it under the batteries, pull the ribbon ends when you need to get them out. I would suggest rechargeable batteries if you use it nearly all day, as it is quite battery hungry. Excellent, quality and very good value for the money so I would really recommend this Sony Walkman..

Money down a big hole .....
I decided to buy this Sony CD player to replace my old Sony that died a couple of years back .... R.I.P I miss you :-( For the last couple of years I have been listening to Mp3 tracks on my iPhone (ripped at best quality) but I really don"t think you can beat the sound of a proper cd spinning away in a player. I only intend using this in the same situation as my previous player and that was climbing in bed at night and listening to a good old classic album and drifting off to the days of good music :-) So having just bought 3 CDs from Amazon I resisted the urge to rip and play on my iphone, and wait for the player to arrive. On unpacking I obviously chucked away the freebie head phones supplied with the player and plugged in my Sennheiser PX 360s and hit that play button to listen to Bowie - "The Next Day" and straight away something wasn't right ... Certain tones and frequencies seemed to be missing ... Ok I thought ... Mr Bowie hasn't" been in the studio for a while maybe his engineers have forgotten what settings they used the last time he was in :o) ....... or just maybe the headphones don't suit the machine. Now I'm no sound engineer but the sound was rubbish. So I unplugged the phones and plugged in a pair of £30 JVC ear canal type phones and this time plumped for The Stranglers - Rattus Norvegicus oh yes a classic album indeed, but the sound was still not up to my expectation :-( so I tried yet another pair of £60 JVCs but no amount of messing with the Mega Bass settings would improve the sound quality .... So I decided to do exactly what I set out 'not' to do and that was to listen these albums as mp3s on my iphone and the verdict ...? Perfect, all the tones etc spot on :-) ..... So either I have a duff machine or Sony cd Walkmans have gone down hill .... As much as I hate to say it, I think the latter .... I am so, so disappointed 20 odd quid down the pan so back to Mp3s for me. My personal opinion ? Buy this player if all you want to use it for is to listen to Audio books, but if you're a lover of great quality sound ... Forget it you will be more than disappointed believe me. Quinny

Good but fiddly
AS with most Sony equipment, you get value for money, quality and finish. This player does what it says, is fairly easy to operate and I found the earplugs very useful. But there is a down side. Any one with fingers bigger than a ten year old, will like me have trouble changing the batteries. Tucked towards the back, just to the side of the hinge, is a flap covering two batteries. With my average man size fingers, I have resorted to using a cardboard emeryboard to lever the batteries out. Bad design from Sony really lets this product down.

Sony CD Walkman
I bought this to replace a model that I had had for 10 years and had served me well. That model was far more expensive.Unlike that model the controls and window are not on the top,nor as convenient, but I soon adapted to the new model.Perhaps the batteries are more fiddly to replace but the battery playing time is incredible [like with the previous model] so I do not need to change them often. The sound is excellent[even better than the other]:beautifully clear and detailed. The bass enhancement does not muddy the sound quality at all which is often not the case. There is an incredible amount of volume and I usually have it set at 4 whereas with my previous model I had it set at 7 and above always. This is an excellent piece of equipment and I am delighted with it.I can recommend it whole heartedly.
