Marsh Madness (Miss Fortune Mysteries) Paperback – September 3, 2024

As a huge fan of the Fortune series, I quickly devour each novel. Each one has been enjoyable in its own way, but this story had a poignancy and depth about the characters that was gripping. Still laugh out loud funny at times, but with a great mystery and play on your emotions. EXCELLENT READ!

This was another great book in this series. I loved all of it. The characters are always entertaining and the mystery complicated.. looking forward to the next book in the series.

Ex-CIA agent Fortune Redding and her senior-citizen colleagues in her PI business head over to a nearby B&B to figure out how a guest with a peanut allergy died in his locked room when the B&B owners are certain they never used peanut in his food. The deceased, Justin, arrived with 6 others who were all having a “pre-reunion” in advance of their 10-year high school graduation reunion. Justin turns out to have been a nasty piece of work whom none of the others liked or trusted but no one seems to have a motive for killing him. Fortune arrives undercover as the niece of her elderly “aunts” Gertie and Ida Belle, trying to figure out how Justin ingested a peanut product and who might have killed him. Despite being set close to home and mostly in the B&B, the action is steady but the mystery more complicated and challenging than some. Definitely a fun read and highly recommended!

I’ve read every one of these books and on this one and the last, I’m missing some of the hijinks which seem to be sacrificed for actual story. I’d like to get back to how the books were originally written. However, this still allowed me to LOL several times so I’ll keep reading them.

As always, I was laughing through the first chapter all the way to the end! This series is the very best I have ever read out of the thousands of books I have read. I can’t wait until the next one. Loved the plot, the undercover aliases and the character drama. Fortune Redding is the best central character ever. And Carter is the perfect boyfriend!

This book is great! The plot, development and ending is still as good, if not better, than the earlier ones. I saw a maturity in the characters of Fortune, Carter and Ida Belle. I am so glad I didn't listen to the few negative reviews I read. Thank you Jana, keep up the great writing!

The Fortune stories are incredible! Engaging, sweet,funny, exciting and a great read.Love the characters, their interrelationships seem real and are enjoyable.

This book was action packed and one of my favorites. Love the characters, action and storylines. All of her books are fantastic and I’m waiting for the. next one.

It always makes me laugh. It also keeps you guessing who the murderer is. It kept me engrossed until the end.

This was a typical Miss Fortune novel with loads of Gertie's Gertiying. A group of young people are together for a ten year anniversary of their graduation. They decide to get together on Voodoo island where one of their number dies. The local Sheriff is lazy and hates Carter, but when Shadow Chaser contacts Fortune asking for her help as it's his Aunt and Uncle who own the hotel where the man died and he's afraid they may be railroaded by the Sheriff. Off they all go to spend time talking to the group with the usual lack of evidence can they solve the mystery.

This is a wonderful novel. Jana always brings a new perspective to her work & this one is outstanding. I was not prepared for the number of stories this offered an ending to. The fragility of our lives is too easily taken for granted. But I revisited my early years & realised how some remote experiences took me on a journey I never anticipated but am incredibly grateful for. It’s that sort of story. A ten year school anniversary brings about a massively overdue wake up. It’s got a range of Gertie’s but the undercurrent is more serious & far more meaningful & thoughtful & will stay with me for many years to come. Let’s all make sure we perform an act of kindness each day. Something tiny but done with feeling. We all need that.
