Our sons were invited to a costume birthday party the week before Halloween, a `Trunk or Treat' event at our church the weekend before Halloween, and, finally, they visited residents of assisted living homes and did some light trick-or-treating around the neighborhood and my office on Halloween itself. The gladiator costume was much more durable than I had anticipated. I appreciated that the costume allowed my son complete freedom of movement as well. Thankfully, both costumes were as easy to assemble as they were to remove. I posted a picture of their completed costumes on this page. SIDE NOTES: My eight-year old son, Kou, was enthralled with the The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall , a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, which was simulcast live worldwide on Oct 2, 2011. And while his older brother Kai has not yet watched Russell Crowe's performance in Gladiator , he is learning about the Roman Empire in school, thus his interest in a gladiator costume. We chose not to equip him with a prop sword or knife though, as it is difficult for a 10-year old not to whack something or someone once he's equipped. In summary, I recommend Rubie's Costume Company and, specifically, their Kids Gladiator costume as a great value. Rating: Four stars.

Cool costume
I didnt think it actually comes with the red shirt and pants/boot covers. So we re getting the full picture but the sword. Pretty cool, i think i grabbed one size larger for my son but it sits great: maybe a larger kid could wear it too, it s just the loose fit that lets it look ok. We love the whole look!

Great Greek/Roman Warrior Costume
As a frequent buyer from Amazon, I rely heavily on reviews (and appreciate them). This item I purchased with NO reviews, other than the review for the "Large" one. I have an 8 year old boy, that is very tall, and the medium fits him nicely, he is 70 lbs about 4'7/4'8 I fear the large would have been too large. The quality is great. I like that the leggings are attached to the boots, so you don't have to worry about the boots falling down. Very nice quality. The tunic is separate (red), the pants/boots, and the third piece is the armour, which ties under the arms. We're using this for an Alexander the Great costume to complete his biography of him.

Affordabity, Ease of use
Size medium was a perfect for my 7 year old son who is 51", and of slendor build. Important points to consider. Three main pieces to the costume... 1. red tunic, which is the shirt of the costume made of a light weight material. It was cold Halloween night so my son wore a black sweatshirt underneath and the tunic still fit well.... 2. Black pants, comfortable material and the "boot" is attached to the pant. My son did not like this feature, though it certainly is easier that way for me, the pant/boot is made with a strap at the bottom meant to slide under a shoe to keep it in place. Trouble is the strap kept slipping off the back of his sneakers when he walked. Which meant he had to keep fixing it as he walked from house to house. Not fun for him. A simple solution is to wear a heeled shoe (like dress shoe/work boot). 3. The armor piece over the red tunic, simply slips over the tunic and ties together on either side of the torso and then your Gladiators ready! I thought the price was fair for the quality. Would recommend it keeping mind my son does not wear this costume frequently so I cannot attest to how the quality stands up to hard core playtime. Enjoy

Great looking costume for 5-8 year old
Great looking costume. I ordered it for my son (5) and he loved it. I have been on a Spartacus kick as of lately so I have been running around saying "I AM SPARTACUS" and my son kept hearing me say it. He asked me who Spartacus was and I told him all about the Gladiators and how they fought in Roman Times. So when Halloween rolled around he already knew who he wanted to be. Lol My son isn't that big, he is 46 inches tall with a thin build, probably around 50 pounds. This costume (size small) could fit someone a bit bigger than him nicely but it looks great on my son as well. Hope this helps

Great Idea but NOT Durable
My son just wore this costume once and came home from school with wripped crotch and waistline. We bought size SMALL for our Kindergartner, who is 5 and of small stature. The top was too big and the pants appeared to be just the right size. However, the pants' seams did not hold up well. Both the pants' material, which is a thin polyester, and its threading in the crotch and waistline is weak. Overall, the idea/design is awesome, but the execution is poor. I provides no durability. For the price paid, I expected to get several wears, whereas we got barely one.

Great costume, very cute, good value!
My son had to dress up like Scipio, the Roman General, for a school project. I found this online and it worked out great! Please note, the sword does not come with the outfit. I ordered the child's size large and it was a bit too big, but always err on the side of larger! My son is 12 years old and on the small side and I probably could have ordered the medium, but glad I got the large. The "boots" attached to the pants are great! My son is thrilled and can't wait to wear it again for Halloween!

Great gladiator costume for my 7 year old.
My sone loves it. He's on the smaller size for a 7 year old and it fits him well. I put it in the dryer for about 5 min to get out all the wrinkles. That got it looking perfect. It's made out of a thin foam(the top part).

Proprio quello che cercavamo! A spasso per il centro di Roma, il mio bambino si è innamorato di un kit di armatura da gladiatore, composto da spada, elmo e scudo. A questo punto mancava solo il costume. Ora grazie ad amazon siamo pronti per il carnevale. Aggiungeremo un bel mantello rosso e la nostra maschera per quest'anno sarà molto originale. Ho scelto la taglia M, indicata per 5-7 anni ed è leggermente grande, considerando che mio figlio ha quasi 6 anni, ma va bene cosi, lo sfrutteremo anche per il prossimo anno. Il costume è composto da pantalone con incorporati gli stivati, maglietta (anziché rossa come in foto, ci è arrivata marrone), tunica.
