I truly loved reading this wonderful edition! The story pulled me in from the very first chapter, and Beauty’s journey through the highs and lows of his life was both captivating and emotional. The illustrations were a beautiful touch, making the experience even richer. The pacing kept me hooked, and I found myself rooting for Beauty throughout all his trials. This edition really does justice to the classic, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

It was so much fun to revisit an old favorite from a very distant childhood. The book is the original and has not changed. I loved it as a child, and I can easily see the story told from the viewpoint of Black Beuty captured the heart of so many. But it was fascinating to read it now because the world has changed. Humanities attitudes about animal rights have grown. Re-reading the book is also a way to see the world from that earlier perspective and wonder at how we as a society have changed. I'm so glad Amazon provides an avenue to easily access the old classics for a very modest fee. Yes, I know they are in the public domain, and you can access them for free elsewhere. I prefer to spend 99 cents and have easy access. Well done. I loved the original illustrations and the story.

The book tells the tale of a black horse and its life as it changes owners. The story is riveting and engaging as a classic book and the illustrations are also well done.It's a tale from the point of view of a horse and as 19th century England as the setting. Under the hood it asks us to consider our treatment of animals as we go about daily business mindless of other living creatures.

This is an amazing story of a horse's life, from the moment he lived on his first owner's farm until his old age. Anna Sewell tells this story from the horse's point of view, and it is a very interesting read and experience. I saw the hardships and joys of an animal and it changed some of my beliefs. I think I have more compassion and love. This is a good book. Good illustrations made this book more colorful.

Loved this book as a horse crazy child and after reading it again as an adult I still love it. Tells the story of Black Beauty through his eyes - from a young colt till he is old. All the various owners and the treatment he received from each. I wish anyone that ever owned or wanted to own an animal read this book as it shows how important compassion & treating animals is. Quiz at the end was a nice addition.

This was an important book at the time it was written to bring to light cruelty to horses. There weren't cars and horses were ridden as transportation, used to pull wagons and carriages, and ridden into battle. Some owners were kind, but others mistreated horses. The story is less meaningful for today's children as now horses are mainly used for riding and treated better. It's interesting having the story told from Black Beauty's point of view. It starts when he is a colt and then goes through his life with good and bad owners. Black Beauty also tells about other horse's experiences. It's a hard book to read in places with the horses being whipped and mistreated. I got it for an eleven-year-old grandson but I think he's too young. The illustrations are beautiful.

This book took me back a few years to when I first read it as a child. There are some original books that will live on forever and this is one of them. The professional illustrations just make the book even more special.It is beutifully written and illustrated. One to keep forever I think

Waugh Leant a lot of how to do good. Beauty is incredible horse surviving all situations-beautiful book and well recommended read.
