I lived in Japan for 4 years. This is GOOD RICE.
I think this is the best value Japanese rice on Amazon. There are Italian alternatives that are good too, but I really wanted a Japanese one and this was cheaper. - You can make this in a non-stick pot very easily.Step 1: Use a small glass for one serving and pour rice into a non-stick saucepan.Step 2: Pour cold water over the rice and stir well with a large wooden spoon, then pour off the starchy, cloudy water (do this at least twice to wash the rice)Step 3: Use the same small glass to measure the amount of water to add to the rice (ratio 1:1 rice to water). Put the lid on. NOTE: KEEP the lid on UNTIL THE END, DO NOT REMOVE!Step 4: Let the rice sit in the cold water for 10 minsStep 5: Put the pot on a high heat until it boils, then turn the heat down so it doesn't overflow (for 12-15 mins)Step 6: Remove from heat and let it sit for 10 minsStep 7: Finally remove the lid and ENJOY some awesome Japanese sticky, fluffy, delicious rice.10/10

Best Japanese rice out here
Tastes close to authentic Japanese rice! It is initially from Italy, but it’s the best one I can get around here. I recommend giving it a try if you like short grain rice. I cook it in the rice cooker, and it tastes great! It’s important to firstly wash the rice, then leave the grains in the water for 15~30 minutes. Add a tiny bit more water than what the rice cooker suggests, then viola! Once it’s done, it’s best to mix the rice to make it fluffier.

Excellent and essentially indistinguishable from good Japanese-grown rice
Excellent quality. I lived in Japan for nearly two decades and ate rice in one form or another almost every day, and always used high-end koshihikari or similar at home. Both I, and the Japanese national who also uses it, have found this Yumenishiki to be very good. It has the same look, smell, texture and taste as high-quality rice grown in Japan. I would go as far as to say that in blind tasting I doubt that most Japanese could tell the difference. Anyway, this is now our default rice. And, with reference to the other review from 2011, it has had no negative effects on my health whatsoever. (I am skeptical that minor variations in rice strains could have the dramatic effect on digestion claimed by the other reviewer.)

Delicious rice but packaging requires further work
It’s a rich in flavour rice that although very expensive (£15 PLUS for 5kg) I’m buying 10 extra kg. First 20 kg was no problem at all. This second purchase - there is a hole in the bag so rice has “spilled out” into a box... I like the rice but not sure how to contact the seller company to discuss it/return... I wish someone can contact me backI would have put 5 stars but 4 for poor packaging

Best rice for me
I'm from Japan so really fussy about rice. For me, this is the best within the price range I can afford. The price has gone up recently so I tried some lower cost brands but had to come back to this.

Great!
Bought for use with a Yum Asia Panda rice cooker. As long as you rinse the rice properly before use it will produce lovely sticky rice every time. I’ll order again.

Very tasty Japanese rice
This is a good find! Very nice taste! As a Japanese person, I eat rice everyday so rice goes away very quickly. 5k is very good as it lasts about 2-3months for two person. I used to buy 1k for £2 Japanese rice from a local shop but I got tired of buying them so many times in a month so I decided to try this. It’s always handy that Amazon delivers this kind of heavy products to your home. Very fast delivery! This is my 2nd order and I will order again.
