Why the bad reviews?? Truly a red tone eliminator
*I already had medium-dark (leaning more dark but nowhere near black) hair that was previously dyed several weeks before using this product* My hair was washed and dried from the day, but once the Amazon package arrived I re-wet it with a spray bottle and applied the product. I was generous but my hair wasn't dripping with product. Tried to apply an even coat on primarily the top layers of hair (where it fades the fastest). My hair pulls warm, so I had a considerable amount of red tones showing. I let the product sit for 30min, yes, thirty whole minutes. I rinsed (no shampoo or other conditioner to follow) and dried/styled my hair with my usual routine. When I say this stuff nearly eliminated all the brassy & red tones, I mean it with my full chest. After drying my hair I looked at it in natural lighting and this stuff worked pretty darn great after 1 application. The steep price is worth it to me. I have yet to see how it fades over time, but the instructions say to not wash your hair for at least 48hrs after application, so I have hopes it will survive a few showers afterwards. I plan on using this again once a hint of red/brassy tones start showing again, but since I used the product at peak brass, I'm convinced it'll take care of it on an "as needed" basis. Things to note: •The product bottle is rather small, which is unfortunate. •You must wear gloves when applying this, it will stain your skin. •The green shade specifically will slightly darken your hair!! **If you don't want a darker result, do not use this, as the shade I purchased is specifically for darker brunettes. (I like a slightly dark neutral hair, so this works well for me)** •If you are a religious daily hair washer, maybe skip this, as you must be able to go at least 2-3 days between washes post-application for optimal performance. •For the love of everything good, LET IT SIT FOR MORE THAN 20min ~ I stand by my method of 30min.

Will change highlights (even caramel brown ones) BLUE and GREEN.
Let this be the most major warning to anyone with color treated hair. This may be obvious to some but it wasn't to me. I had old highlights in my hair. Just a few around my face and in the back from an old balayage from a year ago- and they weren't blond they were a caramel brown. While this worked for the rest of my hair, it turned my old highlights BLUE and GREEN. Wish I had taken a photo before running and begging someone to fix it. Anyway- this is your official warning. Do not, under any circumstances, use this if you have or have had any highlights in the past. My highlights were NOT blond to start, rather a caramel brown. I ended up with blue and green all over.

Great for gray hair blending while growing out
Use this on my natural gray/brown hair color. It turns my reddish brown hair more of a darker mushroom brown which helps it blend better with my grays. It also darkens the white silver streaks on my crown to more of a mushroom gray which I like. So rather then higher contrast I had before, it all blends better. Plus it softens the hair a LOT. You can use every four weeks but I use every 2-3 weeks. I usually clarify first and then dry hair about 60%, apply for five minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

It was it was okay
I was hoping for more with this product. It didn't lighten the hair as much as I would have liked and I felt like it was drying.

worked exactly as it should
Saved me after a polar hair care disaster. I fell for the whole polar hair coloring shampoo thing, only it turned my hair burgundy. There was no way around it, it was definitely dark red. So after panicking I got this toner to see if i could get the red out. IT WORKED! My hair was now just a nice dark brown instead of the red it was before. I only wish it lasted longer. i cant get it to last longer than one wash. oh and it will absolutely stain your skin blue so be very careful around your scalp and wear gloves.

Tones and moisturizes!
I used to use purple shampoos for my highlighted hair and it not only sub-par toned my hair but dried it out on top of what the bleach already did. This is a game changer! The toning is almost professional level and the conditioning is nice and moisturizing leaving my hair toned vs yellow and soft vs dry and brittle.

Didn’t work for me

Soft hair
This works really well. Leaves my hair feeling super soft and helps hide my grays because it makes the overall texture soft instead of as course as they normally are.

Works ok
Darkened my hair a bit, but didn’t seem to get rid of the red undertone like I was hoping for. Maybe worked a tiny bit.

Worth a try
It helped with shine, and didn't dry my hair out. It didn't really help with the yellow a lot but it has toned it down. I'll leave it on longer next time to see.

Not a green toner
Not for red tones. The toner turns purple when it oxidizes, very quickly i might add. To rid red tones you need green. Purple is to remove yellow. So this did absolutely nothing for my hair. It makes it soft for sure but doesn't tone red but is advertised as a green toner. So false advertising.
