Sirena's Tears: A Story about Forgiveness from the Island of Guam

I live on Guam and sent this book and a mermaid doll to my granddaughter in the States. Its a beautiful story with a nice message

It’s a Chamorro book. What’s not to like.

The traditional legend was about a girl who actually became a mermaid because she disobeyed her mother. In this version, Sirena “imagined” she became a mermaid. Although the message is about forgiveness, the author could have just written another story to relay that, rather than leaning on a classic Chamorro legend and changing the moral.
