Kirby Super Star Ultra (Nintendo DS)

This game is excellent, perfect for Kirby fans who enjoyed the original Kirby Super Star/Fun PakThe games controls are very nice and work really well. The graphics have a more GBA feels than the original SNES but the levels are very well remade and should please most fans. All of the original games are present (Spring Breeze, Dyna Blade, Gourmet Race etc.) but HAL have added some new games to keep you interested. Overall the game is very good and its portability only adds to the experience.If you remember the original SNES version then you'll know about the great 2 player action. This is where Super Star Ultra falls short. I tried to play single card co-op but it suffers from a major flaw. In this mode player 2s actions are only seen on player 1s DS screen which means 2 people must huddle around a very small screen and if that's the case you may aswell just buy the Wii virtual console version for 2 player if you have a Wii. If you're not buying just for 2 player then you won't be disappointed but if you want to relive the old co-op experience then there's no point just get the Wii version.To sum up: Great game, really fun but poor 2 player makes it a primarily solitary experience. Great pick up and play game that won't disappoint traditional Kirby fans and for those wanting to get into Kirby this game is a good start!

Amazing game. All of the different sub-games are unique in their own way and super fun to play. Each sub-game also has a difficulty level, just to let you know what you're getting yourself into. By far one of my favourite features, though, is the partner system. By sacrificing a copy ability, you can get a little helper that follows you around and attacks enemies. Although it is usually AI contolled, if you have a friend, he can take the role of your helpers, which really adds to the fun! Speaking of friends, almost all of the sub-games in this game feature some degree of multiplayer support. I especially look forward to competing with friends on Gourmet Race! Definitely worth the price for the new copy. I give this game a 10/10!

I never played the original Kirby games for the NES and gameboy but i recently bought the Nintendo 3DS and decided to give this remake a try, and I love it. The Kirby games are on the face of it very easy which makes them very accesible to all gamers, however the real challenge of the games is in trying to compete them to 10% as there are numerous bonus modes and collectibles which are not necessary to enjoy the games but which provide more than enough difficulty for those that want it.

Service was excellect and the game was worth every last penny. Would NOT recommend for beginners! I enjoyed almost the whole game right up until--SPOILER ALERT--I unlocked the true arena. The only way I could even get up to and beat Marx's Soul was to be cheap, and spam the stone ability. At that point I realised that I was not playing a normal Kirby game. By far the hardest Kirby game I have ever played.

An expanded version of Kirby's Super Nintendo mango opus, Kirby Super Star (or as it was initially called in Europe, Kirby's Fun Pak), this is that game greatly expanded with new mini games and bags of extra content.You can even see where Masahiro Sakurai got a lot of the ideas he'd later use in Super Smash Bros in this, his Kirby zenith.

Well this a collection I have severely enjoyed, light and entertaining with some hidden depths of difficulty for the more adventurous.My only downside is how short the games have been made but at least the right ones were put in.

After playing the fabulous Kirby Triple Deluxe, The rather decent Epic Yarn, and excellent Kirby's Adventure I was hooked on Kirby and wanted more so bought this title. On it's own there is nothing really wrong with Super Star, but it does pale somewhat when compared to the excellence of the other titles. I beat the main games in a couple of hours, completed the mini games in about 1 hour and got fed up wading through the treasure seeking game after about 2 hours. The whole experience is just too short, I also enjoy the collecting feature found in the other Kirby games, be it Sun Stones, Cogs or key rings there is something to look for which adds to the challenge, here (other than the slightly tedious treasure hunt) the best you will find is an extra life or large health tomato.A nice aspect of this game is the 2 player CPU mode - you can get instant help by ejecting a copy ability thus creating a CPU player to work through with you, I believe there is also a two player local network feature which is quite a nice idea as well.I think if this title were available for a few £'s I would recommend it, however if you want it boxed you currently pay a small fortune for it so on this basis I would say check out one of the other Kirby games I've listed you are much less likely to be disappointed.

So yes, this is a remake of the SNES Kibry Super Star, but before you say that this is just a remake, they did add quite a bit. They updated the graphics just a little to make it seem new, but it also has the 8 original game modes plus an additional 4 new game modes (the TrueArena is crazy challenging, took me 2 weeks of hard work to beat). Also it has 2 original minigames plus 3 more new minigames. This is the best deal on any handheld system.Pros: -Classic Kirby is taken to a whole new level in difficulty, but still keeps the same feeling as it did on the SNES - It's one of the few DS games that is way better to play Co-Op than it is to play alone (that said, it is still crazy fun to play by yourself) - There are 19 abilities that you can use (plus a couple special abilities such as, paint or mike) - Each game mode is super unique and it feels as if you play 12 different games. - The game actually has animated cutscenes (pretty amazing to have all this content on one cartridge)Cons: - This is one of the few games that, to me, is perfect in everything from style to gameplay to replayability. So I have no cons.Other: - I highly recommend playing Co-Op with a friend (you can download play it)You should buy this because this game is a classic, hence is why it was remade. This is what every remake should strive to be.
