Worked great cleaning my Hellcat.

First things first: this kit will work on pistols as well as rifles. I bought it specifically for cleaning my Ruger Mark IV and it works great. For those wondering, the kit is also marked as being used for .22-.223 Cal/5.56mm.After having this kit in my possession for a couple months with multiple uses on various calibers, I figured it was time to leave a review. This is an extremely well made kit. The plastic carry case is robust and sturdy. It latches shut tightly, and you won't be worrying about it popping open regardless of how you store it. There is storage for every item you need as well as plenty of additional room to store your other calibers cleaning attachments as well. I keep brass brushes for 9mm, .45 and .410 caliber in here along with the factory attachments. There is absolutely zero flex when pushing these through a barrel, regardless of how tight your patches or brass brush are. Never worry about bending your rods again with this kit. Each rod has 0.375" of threading on the end, ensuring a deep and secure attachment to the following rod, and there is zero flexing of the rods at the joint when connected.It also comes with nice brass attachments as opposed to the cheaper flimsy plastic ones other brands come with. No more stripping plastic threads or bending and snapping the patch holder attachment.The handle is solid aluminum and feels great in the hand. It threads smoothly and stays threaded while in use. It floats freely and you can easily see and feel the rod section spinning while the handle is stationary as you push the rod through the barrel. The handle itself weighs 62.25 grams and has a solid feel to it.The silicone cloth appears to be a soft microfiber. It is actually rather large at 15" x 7". It does not feel as though its got a chemical in it, and the appearance of the firearm does not seem to change after being wiped. It does leave your firearm looking nice and clean after use, which really is it's intended purpose.The only "problem" I had with this kit was with the jag attachment. With even one patch it was simply too tight for me to get through my Ruger Mark IV .22 caliber barrel. I also wish that the box of patches it came with was actually full of patches. Be sure to buy additional patches for .22 cal if you intend on using this frequently. These are both minor gripes anyways and in no way detract from the value of the kit.I originally bought this for my .22, but now I use it for all my firearms. It's a fantastic cleaning kit that I feel very confident using on anything. After my experience with this kit I would not hesitate to buy another product from Pro-Shot. Buy this kit with confidence and know that you'll never need to buy one again!

he last 45 years have had many gun cleaning kit and all have broken at one time or another but these Pro-Shots are the very best as made in the USA and the rods are solid so will not break. The best :)

Purchased the 9mm version. Very pleased with the quality of this gun cleaning kit (made in USA). Went looking for a kit with no plastic threaded components. This met that criteria and then some. The handle is anodized billet aluminum (nice heft). The rod is solid aluminum, not just hollow, threaded tubing. The various attachments are all threaded brass. The "J" shaped bore light and silicon wipe-down rag were nice bonuses that I didn't really consider when purchasing. If you are really tired of cheap, disposable knock-off garbage and prefer to spend money once on a quality kit, this is the one for you. If you prefer to save $15 and are willing to buy annually, there is plenty for you to chose from... each year.

Seems like a nice little kit and works for my 12 gage and my Savage 6.5 Creedmoor also.

This kit is well-thought-out and worth every penny!I have now used this kit twice to clean a .22 revolver with a 6 inch barrel.It contains everything you need for the typical cleaning and then some.Every part is well-designed and well-made.The handle, rods, and attachments, are all solid metal. MADE IN THE USA.Now the one thing I'm unsure of is how TIGHT they are in my .22's barrel and chambers. I was really worried about beating up the finish, but I haven't seen any damage. If I start noticing any, I'll update this review, and frankly, by then it'll be too late...The 1-step CLP does take time to work, but it's also non-toxic. It hasn't bothered my stomach, and I have a sensitive one. The needle-oiler is seriously a must-have!The double-ended brush is that perfect balance of abrasive and soft. It clears the cylinder face and firing pin as though it was made for it.The patches are probably enough for 2 - 4 cleanings, but no more.The silicone-treated cloth could be handy for a weapon you're putting into storage, but if you're going to shoot monthly or so...keep it in the baggie.Altogether, I strongly recommend this kit. It's not the cheapest, but it'll last a lifetime, and it makes gun cleaning more enjoyable.Final word: I also bought this kit because it easily scales upward in caliber and has the storage to do so. Just add the caliber-specific attachments and you're good to go!

Wow! Honestly, I been reading up a lot on what type of cleaning rod would be the best for my gun and I just kept hitting a wall, because there seems to be two very balanced beliefs that either soft (aluminum & brass) is better or harder steel (stainless and such) is better for the bore... In the end, I found no great conclusion that made me lean towards one or the other. Because of this, I just decided to go with what fit my cleaning methods and needs. I chose a harder steel rod, because 1) I am pretty good at keeping the rod going straight in the bore, 2) I apply alot of pressure going in so it might bent a weaker steel rod which would scratch my bore EVEN if I was going straight in at the perfect angle.After much research, I came across this beauty. The worksmanship is beautiful in all the parts! I especially love the rod's handle! I love how I just push it in and it rotates according to the rifling inside of the bore! I also really enjoyed the spear tip jag, but if you don't like that it also comes with a patch holder so no worries there.OVERALL, I'm extremely pleased with this kit. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT to all my buddies for their cleaning needs.
