Okay
This hitbox is just sort of okay. Being stick with the WASD keys like it's part keyboard is somewhat awkward, especially if you're not historically a PC gamer. The buttons work well, but the layout really takes away from it. That plus the inclusion of turbo means that this is really a for-fun hitbox and less a competitive one.

Good value intro to button style controllers
This review is for the PXN X8 Arcade Stick.I ordered this because I like to play 2D fighting games and I like to try out different controllers.Included in the package is the controller itself, USB A to C cable, and a USB A to micro cable.According to the manual the controller is supposed to work on Android phones and Switch but it requires an OTG adapter plug that is not included. This is a non-issue for me because, I don't have a Switch and I don't play fighting games on my phone. The build quality is ok. It really is not the best quality materials and feel. The controller is very lightweight for the size. The chassis is thin plastic with a matte feel. The screw holes on the bottom of the controller do have little rubber feet that will keep the controller in place on a solid surface but won't help if you use the controller on your lap. The buttons and switches felt good. You can definitely tell they are blue switches by the clicky sound and tactile feel. I've attached a video to demonstrate what the buttons sound like. Note, in my video, the table is wobbly not the controller.I'm only using this controller on PC and can't speak to it's functionality on consoles or other devices, except that this controller does require a native controller to be plugged into the USB port for consoles to recognize the PXN X8.When using the controller, the first thing for me was having to get used to using the keyboard style buttons for the directions. I'm used to using a stick or game pad but really wanted to give button style controllers a try. Some directional movements are easier and some characters are easier, such as the charge style characters. Any movement that requires straight direction (horizontal or vertical) is a lot more accurate because it is just a button press or button hold instead of a directional stick movement with a bit of travel and margin for error. My fireball, DP, and double fireball motions became more consistent but some of my movements such as forward jumping, low blocking, and general side to side movement became less consistent. I think my consistency will improve over time because it does take a bit of time to get used to the directional buttons because my brain wants to think that the up and down buttons are forward and backward. There is a definite learning curve if you're used to d-pads or stick controllers. This controller is not mod friendly due to wires being soldered to the controller board. I did not deduct my rating for this because this controller is not advertised as being mod friendly. The only issue I encountered with using this controller is the layout of the keyboard buttons. The layout is not ergonomic so my wrist is slightly angled. I think they were trying to mimic a keyboard but I'm not sure it works well on a controller. Maybe I just need a bit more time to get used to.In summary, this PXN X8 Arcade Stick is a decent button style controller especially when considering the price. The build quality is not the greatest but the price makes it a good value especially as an entry level button style controller. Console compatibility is tedious because you have to plug in a native controller and there is no PS5 compatibility and it isn't mod friendly. I still recommend the PXN X8 as a good value introduction to button style controllers especially on PC fighting games.

Stickless fighting stick! WASD + 8 button style
We ordered the PXN X8 Arcade "stickless" Stick and it was priced at $63 at the time. Ill start by saying I love this thing. Using the WASD controls in place of a stick is a different experience. Its not better or worse than a really good stick, just different. Doing quarter and half circles is so easy is takes fireball spam to the next level! Its allot of fun to use. Movements are less silky smooth than they would be with a high quality joystick, but its a trade off. I like switching between the X8 and my brooks/sanwa custom stick, both are so good in their own way.The switches on the WASD are quick and feel like decent mechanical keyboard switches. They remind me of the green clicky mechanical switches from my 2012 razer blackwidow. I like them. The other 8 buttons also feel good and have clicky slightly stiff longer throw switches. I would say the actuation point is about double that of sanwa arcade switches. The clicks and positive engagement is very much a hybrid of a keyboard coming to an arcade panel. Besides the main buttons it has start, select, home, pad, lsb3, rsb3 and turbo in additon to a dp/ls switch along the top of the panel. The overall construction feels a little bit hollow, as the size to weight gives it a light feel. But it is solid enough that doesnt feel like it will break if it falls off the table or lap. The cable is 6ft or so and was long enough for my needs. The pattern on the top reminds me of the 90s and the surface is comfortable with a mild matte texture. The X8 linked to both my switch and PC without any issues, literally plug and play. If you use the switch, make sure you go into settings and enable pro controller support before using.I really like this stickless fight stick and the price is very reasonable imo.

Bit of an adjustment…
It’s looks and feels nice. The buttons are very tactile and feels very rewarding. Also, I like the 3.5mm headphone jack port. The directional buttons aren’t as accurate as a joystick, so that’s definitely an adjustment and requires more movement. Also, I feel like the the action buttons should be a little bit smaller and closer together for faster movement. The extra usb cables and usb port are to piggyback a controller in order to use this on a console. I’m a PC player, but the extra steps to play on a console feels outdated. It’s should be plug and play like a regular controller.

Great value for the price, but might not be what you think.
The quality of this device is very good for the money. Buttons and keys are a little clicky sounding, not mechanical in my opinion, but still good. However, this device is only good for specific types of games. We have downloaded a collection of retro games, which worked great with this little box. It also works well with fighting games, which is what it was designed for. However, if you're looking to use this on first-person shooters or open-world games, it's not a good option. It has been very responsive in my testing. I've used this on PC, PS4 and PS5. This is niche device, however it is a great option over the more expensive devices out there. Great to try out before deciding if this is a device you want to upgrade and use long term.
