- Newsweek

You're a very good man Lee!
I have waited so long for this movie to become available on the European DVD format and it has added one of my all time favourites to my collection. Ever since I was a teenager and I first saw this film I was hooked into it's mystery. This edition works hard to at least explain some aspects that have been under debate since to film was made. It was made in a time where the director was king and John Boorman certainly has that crown! This film is an education and the next time I get to LA I'm booking into the Kimberley!

Slightly dated but enjoyable classic
This is the film that was later remade as 'Payback' starring Mel Gibson.Although I enjoyed this version, and Lee Marvin is brilliant, I'm afraid it is now getting a little bit dated. The story is constantly interspersed with flashbacks, which at the time was no doubt a groundbreaking effect, but after a while you can't help thinking they have been added to just fill out the film a bit. Also, the violence is quite dated, and the fight scenes are tame by today's standards. Almost corny at times.I also thought the price was slightly steep, at over eight quid.In my opinion the remake with Mel Gibson is far superior, with much more interesting characters, and a much better flow to it all round. In summary then, I'm glad I have seen this original, but doubt it will be watched very often in the future. To any potential buyer I would advise waiting until the price comes down a bit, and in the meantime if you haven't seen it, get the remake starring Gibson!

Dark Neo Noir
Oh, it's a dark and nihilistic world Lee Marvin (Walker)inhabits. Organised Crime, organised as a CorporateBusiness, each with a layer upon layer high than theother, and Walker wants his money back. There is a sad Mel Gibson remake of this film, but thatgoes nowhere near to where the dark places this moviegoes to. This is a very good film, and a must for everyfilm noir fan.

Point Blank [Region 2] [import]Recently obtained and to realise that the memories of the original film issue was everything that my memory remembered about it - and more!Supreme performance of Lee Marvin was, and is, still a riveting watch - cetainly underlines that this was one of the film world's jewels - to be seen and carefully put away for repeat viewing!!

A man who basically wants what's rightfully his.
Point Blank's ending had everyone whose seen the film guessing. Did he get his $93,000 back or didn't he? A well written script and filming on each individual character including lee marvins character was deeply dark, tongue and cheek, especially superb.
