DEWALT 20V MAX XR 1/4 Inch Cordless Impact Driver, Bare Tool Only (DCF860B)

I've owned a lot of impact drivers over the years and the DeWalt 20V MAX XR has genuinely become my go-to reach-first tool. It's in my hand more than any other driver in my kit at this point. The power-to-size ratio on this thing is ridiculous. It drives fasteners with authority — lag bolts, long deck screws, self-tappers into steel — without bogging down or overheating. The XR brushless motor makes a noticeable difference over the brushed equivalent, both in sustained torque and in how cool it runs after extended use. The 3-speed settings are actually useful. Low speed for delicate work where you don't want to overdrive screws, high speed when you're blowing through a box of fasteners and just need it done. The LED work light is bright and well-positioned — not an afterthought. It's compact enough to get into tight spots without sacrificing grip. The belt clip is solid and doesn't feel like it'll snap off after a month of real use. The chuck is tight and positive — no bit wobble. Battery compatibility with the rest of the 20V MAX ecosystem is the obvious benefit if you're already in the DeWalt family, but even as a standalone purchase this driver earns its price. Charge time is reasonable and the batteries hold up well over hundreds of cycles. This is a professional-grade tool at a price that doesn't make you wince. If you're doing any serious fastening work — construction, fabrication, general contracting, heavy DIY — stop overthinking it and just buy this. You'll use it every single day.

Insanely portable, great battery life, decent bang for your buck, and definitely Dewalt! 250 pound feet of breakaway torque is pretty impressive for a quarter inch drive, making this insanely compatible using 3/8 to 1/2 inch adapters. This is insanely versatile, and the appearance is a little bigger than the other Dewalt impact drivers, but small enough that it would be comfortable hanging on a tool belt all day. Very comfortable in the hand too!

Come to like these Dewalt impact drivers, this one has power and speed but it is a bit bigger and harder to handle than the one before it. Do not hit these on the chuck since that seems to destroy them. Durability is generally good and battery life does seem to hold up. Its a tool, it works, makes my life easier that's all I care about.

I was having a terrible time getting scews in without destroying my bits and the screws. A big part of the problem was my 15 yo Makita single speed impact driver. Just way too fast to control. The new Dewalt has 3 speeds and the slowest one works great with lots of torque. I love this new tool. I drive my screws in with Milwaukee bits and wham bam I am in there! It arrived in a Dewalt box, new, and with all the paper work. A good investment.

Probably the nicest impact driver I’ve ever used. I am not looking for another one little bit of issues with ordering almost 2 weeks but I complain in Amazon made it awesome thank you five stars. Very happy.

I just picked up this 860 impact driver and the 805 drill driver. Spent the last hour drilling holes and driving and removing various screws and fasteners into a very hard pressure treated 4x4. Both tools passed the test w flying colors! This impact driver has all the power I’ll ever need. Lots of power! I really like how you can use setting 1 and apply a light touch to the trigger for lighter and smaller screws. It can be sensitive for lighter work if you need it. So great low to high torque range. Small and light little sucker too. Love it!

Has all the power I need and it a good quality tool and doesn’t skip a beat doing lug nuts if the bits hold up, it’s made fast work of any thing you want it to do

This thing rips. At 2,500 in-lbs (282 Nm) your only concern is to not snap any bolts / screws. Noticeable difference in power, just upgraded from the ATOMIC DCF850 (which is also amazing and compact). For confined spaces, the 850 shines. This 860 though, is a beast if you dont have to worry about tight areas. If you're using an old model, would definitely recommend this upgrade. A good investment for years. 10/10
