A decent replacement for my old Binatone
I needed a new telephone after my old one conked out after eight or ten years use - may even have been longer. This has all the features I need including an ability to set (on the base set at least) different ringtones for different numbers. I find this helpful as the different tone tells me whether it is family, friends I always want to talk to and friends who I may not have the patience (at that moment) to talk to or if it is a possible cold call (the normal ring). There could be a greater range of ringtones as they tend to sound similar but this may be me getting used to it. It was pretty easy to set up and to record a message for the answerphone. The booklet is detailed which is helpful. I find the display is clear and easy to read even if it is a ghastly orange backlight (doesn't remain on btw). Nice big button for loudspeaker. I haven't yet used the mobile handset (except to enter some numbers and generally set it up) so can't comment on it. I'm happy with it so far and hope it will last at least as long as the old one.

great phone for the money
Bought this as previous phone packed up. Liked the answerphone option & additional portable handset. Programming numbers into the phone is a bit time consuming but the instructions are clear & easy to follow. Looks more suited to an office with the features on it & is an odd way of using as you need to select the number from the phone book before lifting the receiver unless you are manually dialling. Ringtones are a bit gimmicky & robotic but have finally found one that sounds like a telephone ringing so happy with that. If other tones were easier on the ear, there is a great feature of setting a different tone for individuals within your phone book so you would know who is calling you. Haven't used any of the call blocking features yet but very happy with this product.

Value for your hard earned.
Good piece of kit for the price, once out of the box set up took about ten minutes and didn't even look at the instruction manual. (my previous phone was also a binatone which helped) Simple menu button to enter options and up down key to select destination then enter again to select desired option. The base wired phone volume is loud, I have it set on 4 of 5 levels and I suffer from hearing loss in both ears, I think reviews about it not being loud enough are referring to the dect portable bit, but since that is on my desk and also illuminates it's more than adequate, even if you don't hear that for any reason you will hear the main phone. The speaker phone is very loud and clear allowing you to share your private calls with the next door neighbours if that's your thing. :)) All in all a happy punter here, I think I made the right choice.

Pleased but not happy
phone is ok but not as easy to enforce other facilities such as phone list and timer .like all electronic items there is no direct way of using the other features .The phone is not very positive when dialling a number you hear the number you have pressed after a pause .Too many features for me

Great for the household
Perfect for my mother who needs a phone upstairs and down. Once I figured out how to enter peoples numbers, it is really easy to use now.

Utilitarian, but ticks all the boxes
At first glance, this phone seems anything but stylish, with its black and silver colour scheme and clunky number buttons, but I've grown to like the budget '1980s office' look and appreciate its compact size and intuitive operation. A quick read of the manual is all that's required to get the hang of the menu and functions. Apart from the in-built answering machine, it has all the features you would expect: a directory function, mute, redial, hands-free/speaker, alarm, ringtone options, etc. In addition, the main handset is paired with a DECT cordless unit, which is quite handy. I'm not a big fan of cordless phones, as I find the battery often conks out during long calls, but it is useful to have a secondary ringing source in the house and the option of taking the handset with me when I'm out of earshot of the main phone (e.g. in the garden). I think it's also possible to make calls, or send intercom-style messages, between the two handsets, but I haven't tested that. If, like me, you prefer a corded phone and can tolerate a rather utilitarian design, this one is great value and it comes with a range of mod cons.
