It works
Installed to run a cellphone booster from a 12v battery. Functions well for this application. Would like for it to come with a second set of wires for a ring to terminal connection but that is easy enough to do. It has 2 outlets, each outlet is capable of 400 watt output (max combined is still 400 watts). Some units advertised as 400W would only allow 200W max per outlet. It was also used to charge a cellphone while running the booster. In the near future it will also supply power to several LED lamps. Update : Works perfectly with a Wilson 4G cell phone booster.

Wagan Tech Elite 400W Pro Bench Test
This Wagan Tech Elite 400W Pro review is being written on the day of delivery. I hooked it up on my test bench to check out the waveform and load test. The pictures tell most of the story. Unit seems to run cool overall. Fan is only on when loaded; off when idle; not temp controlled. Idle power draw is 2 watts w/ no load. With switch off, no power draw was measured (meter had 1mA resolution). I measured the efficiency to be 92.9% with a 289W (1.0PF) using a small heat gun for load. (12.7V @ 24.5A at input terminals; 289W load on AC outlet). It does not seem to have much, if any, surge capacity. I loaded it with my larger heat gun on low speed (draws ~600VA) and it faulted immediately. Unit does not self-reset after overloading. You must power cycle switch. Now, on to the weird behavior: After you power cycle the switch, the green LED comes on indicating normal operation. However, there is no power present at the AC outlet. In order to get it live, you have to load the inverter with something significant. But, if you turn the switch off for about 10secs then back on, you'll get idle power in about 5 secs without having to load the inverter. This behavior may be tricky to deal with if the user doesn't know about this issue. You may think the inverter is fried, when in fact, it's just strange behavior. I bought this unit (just under a hundred clams) instead of the cheaper Bestek simply because of the low profile height to fit under a seat. This unit was almost double cost, but it fits.

Humming on my TV and lines of interference on my TV
I replaced this exact model inverter changing nothing else and now I have lines and humming when watching my tv. When I called service I was told this never happens and that I needed to send an email to customer service. I did. No response yet. Why not replace my bad inverter and not give me the run around? What a bummer … the only reason I replaced the older working inverter is because the old model had a constant running fan (15 years old model) and it ate lots of energy and was loud. This new one was exact in every same way so it was an upgrade. I am so disappointed

It works without any problems.
I use it for busking, playing music in the street.

Seems very good quality, and if it lasts a few years, it will be great!!
It's being used as part of the battery backup for our tankless gas water heater. So far it seems a very quality product. Time will tell.

It has a surge of 800 watt but it is 400watt
You can replace the fuses inside the inverter

Good unit, but had minor quality issues
Not one of the cheaper units, so I'm hoping it will be good quality, time will tell. Unit arrived promptly, but I noticed a rattling noise inside the unit. I took off one end (easy to do, 4 screws) and found two small electrical lock washers loose inside. Checked to see if something came loose, but didn't notice anything, except one of the nuts for the positive input terminal was very loose (could spin with my fingers). I removed the loose washers, tightened the nut, and tested the unit. Everything appears to be working fine, but the washers could easily have shorted something out, and I'm sure that the nut for the input terminal would have fallen off in time, and caused a problem if I hadn't noticed/fixed it. I expect better workmanship for a unit this expensive.

Great for camping.
So far it works great. The plug in adapter is perfect for using inside your vehicle. For heavier loads hook it directly to your battery
