Really enjoyed this as I got into it. I'm tired of authors who have sequels, but I DO want to read the next book.

If you liked the movie National Treasure, you'll love this book.
I teach 4th grade and am constantly on the lookout for things my students will love to read. This one certainly delivers with a bit of American History (American Revolution) tossed into the mix. Not enough that I'd say you get a real history lesson, but there's interesting tidbits about Ben Franklin as you're reading through it.One thing that I really liked is how fast-paced the story is. The kids barely solve one puzzle before the next one is upon them. There's only one story line (small cast of characters, one location - not like Michael Scott's The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Series - which is an amazing series, but much more complicated) and the story moves along quickly. At least one puzzle, the math one, is pictured in the book. A teacher could, in theory, copy the puzzle on the board, read the hints from Marty, close the book, and refuse to continue until the kids figure out the numbers that go in the puzzle. Not that I've ever done anything like that.... :D

This gives a new feel to loving the American History subject
I got this book from Netgalley and I’m very glad I’ve been approved. I requested this book because it says middle grade and I need one for my Reading Challenge. Although it said Middle Grade, for me this feels more like a Young Adult. If you enjoy adventure books like Percy Jackson series, I think you’ll enjoy this one too. I’m not American but I felt like I learned a lot about American History with this one (if what it tells is based on facts) and the Revolution without feeling bored. I kinda even looked forward to hearing the history from Marty every time she rambled about it.I like Sam very much. His character is very much flawed and even a tad annoying in the beginning but once you start to warm up to his character, he’s pretty much likable. Admirable even. Theo is a little mysterious and even by the end, I still find him mysterious. I think there’s more to him that will come in future books.I enjoyed the whole adventure side of this book and I already want to read the next one. I felt like I was brought to the tour myself and went to another place. No dull moments too. There are hilarious parts, dramatic, and at times I even found myself holding my breath. If you have kids in the middle grade and young adult bracket, this is highly recommended. If you love YA Adventure, I highly recommend this to you, too.

Fun adventure/puzzle solving book series
10-12 year olds loved all three books in this series. It's a mix of puzzle solving, American history, and danger/adventure. Unfortunately I read on the author's Facebook page that the publisher has decided not to put out any more books in this series so that is something to think about before getting hooked on this series. I don't know why these books haven't sold better -- perhaps not enough advertising?
