If you don't have workbench to attach the TS-2.2P to, you need this
I needed to get a truing stand, and I'd chosen the TS-2.2P. I don't have anything approximating a workbench. Is a base *really* necessary in this situation? It is. Is this base up to the task? It is. If you aren't permanently attaching your truing stand to something, you need this base.Features of the base include:* Five spoke-wrench holders on left, if you have wrenches other than the ones on a multitool* ~3.25" diameter circular well on left* ~3.25" diameter slightly larger than half-circular well on right* Large empty well filling out the rest of the right* Bolt holes so the stand can be bolted to something* Hand knob to allow the stand to tilt front to back on the baseThe spoke-wrench holders are definitely convenient if you've decided to step up from multitool-homed wrenches like I did. The remaining wells I've found helpful for storing little things like valve caps and nuts. The ability to tilt seems, at this point, mostly gimmicky, but it might be helpful at some point.Could you make your own base out of wood or something? Sure, probably, but you'll have to lightly design it, spend time getting the parts, then assemble it. (Although, in fairness, this base did require a small amount of assembly.) You can either pay in money for this, or in time for that. I would recommend paying money for this, but take your pick.

No longer need to anchor!
For those of us with limited shelf space, this solves the anchor problem. Rock solid!

This is a must have, if the stand isn't going to be bolted to a shop bench
Pretty solid base; little bit of a pain when I was screwing in the stand, but I don't even remember why now, so it must not have been that big of a deal...Without this thing, the TS would just fall forward all the time, because I don't have a bench to screw the TS into. It's far more expensive than it should be. Scrap wood, from Home Depot, would suffice as a base, but it would need to be drilled/routed, etc.

Stabilizes the TS2
Too expensive for what it is, even with the included hardware. Lost a star because of price.

Overpriced Chunk of Plastic
I'm a fan of Park Tool repair stands and wheel truing stands. I own both and a few of their tools. But blue paint doesn't cost any more than any other paint color and Park Tool is overpriced in my opinion. This base is nothing more than an expensive chunk of plastic that cracked in one corner as I was trying to install the truing stand into it. It's still functional but cost way too much. Oh, and this base won't work with other Park Tool truing stands. So you'll have to buy another overpriced chunk of plastic. Which I suspect is by intentional design.

Park Tool TSB-2.2 Tilting base is necessary for truing stand to be stable etc.
The Park Tool TSB-2.2 seems to be a decent product and it works pretty well. I was a little skeptical to say the most on buying such an overpriced item, plus I initially thought "I don't need this!" because I agree with consumers who bought this product and said it is way overpriced especially since it's plastic composite, not metal. However, after looking at Park Tools website, someone asked if the base was necessary or could the truing stand, stand up on its own. One of the answers from the staff was unless you plan on clamping it in a vice or bolting it to a table then it will fall over, otherwise you will need to buy the tilting base to keep it from falling over. I thought: "They must be joking right? They never bothered to test if it could stand on its own?" Which would've been helpful to know. Still, I thought: "Well they may have a point." After all the truing stand is much like trying to use a vise which are typically very heavy, to begin with without bolting it down and that would only lead to/end in injury or worse and may include going to the hospital. So for that reason, I finally gave in and chose to buy the base. Now aside from it falling from not bolting the stand down, with the base or without the base. The tilting base does offer some advantages:1.)A place to put tools like Spoke nipple wrenches - that's important because before I bought this I kept having to rely on putting the wrenches in my pocket. Now with several compartments that makes my life much, much easier and gives me peace of mind.2.) A place to put nipples or valve caps, etc - Now this important because have you ever been building or even working on an already built wheel maybe your just removing/replacing the nipples and set a nipple down and then forgot where you put it? Yeah, I've done that plenty. So having a place to put nipples is great. Also great for storing screws, nuts, etc, and especially Presta or Schrader valve caps because if you're like me I've put those on the floor or next to me, and forgot it was there, stepped on it, and broken it all because I seem to forget their plastic, not metal.3.) The Tilting base is great for well tilting- Tilting is useful especially if your short, because as soon as you sit down to true a wheel, it may seem like the stand is tall, so tilting it over is helpful, and that's only if you buy the stand with the tilting base which is one important advantage because if you buy the stand and need to tilt it you're screwed.4.) Not bolting it down does allow freer movement-I like the ability to move it if needed to look at the wheel from other angles. That would be an advantage id lose if I bolt it down, but then I could always turn the table if needed, but it wouldn't be the same.5.) I can choose to bolt it down or not- Which is great as already mentionedThe disadvantages:1.) Bolting the plastic base is not like bolting a metal base like on a vice-The only problem is unlike a vice which is all metal including the base, this base is plastic, so if I torque the bolts down I'm going to have to be careful not to over-torque the bolts and break the plastic. If I chose this option I am going to have to think about how much torque is too little too much and just right. So there you have it, that's my review on the Park Tool TS-2.2 Tilting base. While it's overpriced, it does have its advantages and disadvantages, but at the end of the day, it works. I'll send my feedback to Park tool about the materials and price, but aside from that in the meantime this tilting base does work, and I do recommend this especially if you're buying the stand for stability and storage.

Overpriced Piece of Plastic that Should Have Come with the Stand
I bought this for the ParkTool TS 2.2 truing stand. I have had many problems with that stand, which I attribute to the quality control at ParkTool.I have also had problems with this base for the truing stand. In particular, the end caps which are supposed to fit into the stand do not fit in the model that I bought. I did follow the instructions that came with the base, and they do not fit.Apart from that, I believe that this base for the truing stand should have come with the truing stand, which is already overpriced. This is basically a piece of plastic that is overpriced, and I deeply regret buying it and the truing stand that I got it for.

Sollte also etwas kaputtgehen, könnte man von Park Tool sicherlich Ersatzteile beziehen. Ich bin jedenfalls zufrieden und würde ihn jederzeit wieder kaufen.

Stand
I am pleased with the stand as it means I can now true wheels where I like. It is a shame that you spend a lot of money on a jig then have to spend more if you want the stand.
