Heats water quickly
Loved this kettle while it lasted for the 2+ years we used it; worked great. Hearts yup water quickly for tea, coffee, oatmeal, etc, and gold about 7 full cups. For some reason the latch got stuck on ours and stopped working so the lid stopped opening when the button was pressed. Got worn? Only older adults used it 🤷🏼♀️ Still heats up the water now the lid won’t close but unit won’t auto shut off as a result. Looking to buy a new one hopefully this will last longer than 2+ years. The heating element is going strong!

I like it.... read my experimental test for heating speed!
Ok, My Aroma Hot H2O electric water kettle just arrived. After ordering it I had second thoughts as I further read some of the reviews. In fact I concidered cancelling the order to purchase one of the more expensive and more highly recommended models. One of my first concerns was speed of delivering hot water. So I put it to the test. I prepared 3 containers of equal measure water. One went in a Calphalon 1 ½ qt saucepan, one in a Corningware microwaveable pan, and one was in the Aroma Kettle. I used .9 L of water in each vessel. It was all measured from the Aroma Kettle. .9 L is the second mark on the water indicator window. All started with cold tap water at the same temp. I put the Calphalon pan on my GE fast start electric ceramic stove top, the Corningware in my 950 Watt GE Microwave, and the Aroma seated on its base. I stared all 3 units at the same time and turned on the timer from my Iphone. 4:42 minutes later, the Aroma was at a full boil and the unit shut off as designed. At 8:20 minutes the Calphalon on the stovetop came to a rapid boils. After 10 minutes I shut off my microwave as there was still no visible sign of boiling and I ran out of patience. The winner? The Aroma! Now addressing a few other negative posts about the Aroma. Yes, the Stainless Steel vessel, once the water is Boiling, is hot. Don't touch it. Duh! Even the instructions say don't touch it under these conditions, but is that really necessary? There is no plastic touching the water except some from the water indicator level. It's your call on whether this will substantially shorten your life or not. Everything else is all Stainless Steel. Will it hold up? Time will tell. I've had this for less than 2 hours now. So this is an "initial customer satisfaction" rating. The filter has some, but little plastic on it. It is a bit trick getting in and out, but I think I just have to get use to it. It probably could been designed for easier insertion and removal.I was unsure, based on reviews and advertising whether you could boil less than a full pot. However, the instructions do clarify and state that no less than 2 cups, and no more than 6 cups of water at a time. So you can boils a small amount. I actually wish it was a bit smaller vessel, as I probably will boil 2-3 cups 90 % of the time. But it will do the job for me.The on/off switch seems fine to me. Some reviews said it was cheap. It's a consumer, NOT a commercial product. If you want a heavier gauge switch, buy a commercial unit. If you have very little kinesthetic sensitivity (i.e., you can't distinguish between soft touch and hard touch, maybe you should but a commercial unit). I would say it is delicate. It looks like a guitar pick partially projection out under the handle. When the unit senses the boiling water, it trips the switch to off. You can manually trip it to the off position as well.If you have a large hand it may be hard to clean the inside, your hand will not fit in. You are just boiling water, so It's not like you are making soup or oatmeal. The instructions clearly state "for boiling water only". It suggests using distiller water, or an occasional cleaning with a water / vinegar soaking if deposits build up.The instructions are fine. A "quick start up" sheet, and then a more detailed 4 page manual. I'd give it 4.5 stars if decimals were permitted in the rating.OK UPDATE 1/11/2013. I have returned my unit. My reviews is still accurate, however it's just too large for me. At most I need 1-2 cups of water at a time, the bare minimum you can make in this unit. If you will regularly need 4-6 cups of hot water at a time this will be good. Just oversized for my needs.

Updated, today, 11/13/14-My husband is out of town long term and has my electric kettle with him. I got tired of boiling water in the microwave for my french press, so I came online looking for another electric kettle. I looked around a little bit, but quickly decided to click on the "buy again" button and just get the same one, since it's served me so well over the last year and 8 months! As expected, I was not disappointed.Updated Review: I've been using this kettle for nearly a year now (It's December and I purchased it in February). It still works great. I haven't had any problems with it. The only time it leaked was when I overfilled it and didn't pay attention.. it's only happend a few times. This kettle gets used daily, usually more than once.In my original review (found below), I only gave the kettle 4 stars because I was worried that the on/off switch would be flimsy. But almost a year later and no problems, so I went up to 5 stars. Great kettle!Great product. I use it to heat water for tea, and for making coffee in my french press. My husband said that I've "ruined" him for any other type of coffee production!Original Review:A friend turned me onto french pressed coffee, but my biggest glass measuring cup is only 2 cups. This meant only being able to make one mug (or two small cups) of coffee at a time, so I decided it was time to get an electric kettle. I looked at several brands online, taking their reviews into consideration. I decided to go with this one and I'm really very pleased with it.It holds 7 cups of water and boils at about 1 minute per cup of water. On days I need to use both of my french presses, I can boil one cup of water in the microwave to make an even 8 cups of water for my two presses. It's also nice that if I'm making coffee for just myself, but then decide I want more, it doesn't take that long to boil a couple cups of water for a second round of coffee or tea. There is a little window that shows you much water is in it. I love that the kettle comes off of the base, so there is no need to worry about catching the cord on stuff. The auto-shut off feature is nice.Yes, you can hear the water boiling, which some people complain is too loud, but it honestly isn't THAT loud and it doesn't bother me. Plus, it's nice that you can hear when it's almost done. The lid fits tightly so it won't pop open on accident. It pours smoothly with no water running down the body of the kettle. The handle is comfortable to use and the design protects your knuckles from accidentally brushing hot metal while you pour. The only reason I docked a star on this review, is that the on/off switch seems a little flimsy, so that might be a concern later. However, I've been using my kettle for about a week now and totally love it. My coffee pot has officially been put away and this kettle sits in my little "coffee station" corner of my counter. Oh, and it takes up less space than the coffee pot too.I would recommend this product to everyone who drinks french pressed coffee and/or hot tea on a regular basis, or people who eat a lot of those "cup of soup" products, or anyone that requires boiling water on a regular basis for their beverage and food prep. I use my kettle 2-3 times every day! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Style…smaller than some and polished stainless steel
It was so hard to find a traditional kettle in polished stainless. Most are huge and clear glass..likely cheaper to make with glass. This kettle is attractive. It’s only 1.5 L so it’s not hugs. The base that it sits on is very light and often lifts with the kettle - a bit of a nuisance - but for the style and function it’s the best I’ve found. It pours really well and certainly makes at least 6 cups. Perfect for our needs. I really like the look of it and as an older person it’s easier to lift than other kettles

Perfect
This is a great kettle, it holds a lot of water, heats it up quickly and retains that heat for a long long time.

Filter falls off frequently, can't shut off automatically after boiling
Nice chrome finish and solid appearance. However, the filter is loose by design or being defective, it falls off frequently (into the kettle). I wouldn't mind not having a filter since I use BRITA anyway, but without the filter in place, the auto-switch won't be able to automatically turn it off after boiling. I have to frequently put the filter back into place, which becomes annoying.Update: I contacted Aroma and they sent me a free replacement (without me paying for it or shipping or anything), very good customer services. The replacement works very well, none of the problems described above occurred again, so I guess it was only an unfortunate defective unit.

problem after half a year
new is good. after about half a year, it is very noise, and not stop right after boiling. take a couple minutes before itstop. make sure you close the lid tight, otherwise it never stop. Well, not too expensive. don't expect it last long.
