Even though glycinate Crosses the blood brain barrier also, I decided to finally give this a try I'm not really that into designer Supplements but I'll give it a try because it's from Dr. Mercola

I will now only buy this brand & this type of Magnesium because it’s the only one that I have noticed a difference if I don’t take it. It helps me calm down before bed, helps with leg cramps while sleeping and I just sleep more restfully with it.

High quality and supports deep sleep

I'm 79. Sometime around 75-76 yrs old, I noticed I just wasn't any longer getting deep sleep. Yes, like most of us old people the devil bladder seems to have a mind of its own; and still does wake me up in the middle of the night. But the difference now is that, typically, I don't wake up until after 3.5-5 hours of very, very deep sleep; go to the bathroom and then back to bed without a problem. For about a year I had been supplementing with magnesium glycinate but it didn't seem to make a difference. Then, I listened to a YouTube guru on types of magnesium. He did say that the Threonate is more expensive but tends to work better. I didn't care about the price, I was willing to try anything to get back to sleeping like a baby.
