A great history of something very common place.

We’re big Smiths fans & this was a great photo & caption. Nice quality. Took a while to arrive but overall very pleased.

Fascinating

Great idea for a book and great pictures. Only 4 stars though as I found the purple prose quite hard-going and a bit pretentious (the first sentence is four lines long...) and rather mis-matched to the essentially whimsical topic of the book.

I was so excited to discover this book whilst browsing and it was a must buy for me. I have been something of a collector of old and interesting tea towels for some time and they adorn some of the walls in my home, notably the kitchen and bathroom, I just can't resist the more curious of them and dare I say - they make better wall hangings than many actual 'wall hangings'. This book is so well researched and I am now learning so much I never knew before since very little has been written on the subject, like the reasons for changes in design throughout history and the colours and fabrics and so on. It is a truly brilliant book.
