STABILA 196-2 Dark Shadow Level Set, 48 and 24 Inch, Cat. No. 37300

I am a mason by trade. I just got these as replacements for ones that got damaged in the field . I love these over the smith or crick wood levels , very easy to see the vials , they don’t wrap or crack and need. Maintenance is very easy just a light acid wash when they get real bad and you’re good to go . I would recommend these to any needing a good quality level and a fair price .

It is the same great quirky of stabila but way cooler in the black color. We had to replace the old one we had for like 7 years. They are very durable and get used daily for us.

I have always been envious of those with Stabila levels, but I could not swallow the yellow color. I know many manufacturers make their level in bright colors so they ear less likely to be lost by contractors at constructions sites, but as my son pointed out when I was considering these, I am not contractor. The Dark Shadow levels come win the perfect combination of sizes for the hobbyist. They had legendary build quality and functionality. The dark color makes the readability even better. They are substantial and you feel the quality, but they are not heavy. The price is commensurate with the quality.

I would definitely buy these again I do new construction and these always look bad ass but it be nice if they came with magnits even if you have to install them yourself it would be perfect! Value for money is there Accuracy is great Readability perfect Easy to use Durability great Leveling is perfect

These levels must have been designed by someone who has never used a level on a construction site or done any masonry work which is hard to believe as Stabila is a German company that has been making levels for a long time. The problem with these 'pretty' levels is that the entire body is made from thin extruded aluminum and will likely become dented and scratched up if youre laying brick/block. Usually if the body of the level is made from extruded aluminum the work side is thick and machined flat. These levels? Not so. You see here, that would have been too much work or too much like right. Sign of the times I guess. Final analysis? Junk. Thanks Stabila!
